Formula Student is a competition run by the Institute of Mechanical Engineers in partnership with companies including JLR, Mercedes AMG, National Instruments and Shell. UCLan students engineer success at national motorsport event Engineering students from the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) are celebrating after a car they rebuilt in a matter of weeks won an event at a national race.

Not the usual year with covid restrictions which meant the use of the 2019 car together with reliability & weight saving upgrades enabled the team thoroughly test the car before the prestigious event at IMechE Formula Student held at Silverstone
This gave the team the best opertunity of a great result. The University of Central Lancashire - UCLan did not disappoint, scoring well on all dynamic events:
2nd in acceleration 🥈,
7th in skid pad,
10th in sprint race,
2nd in endurance 🥈
After the endurance there was a shoot out with UCLan Motorsport winning with a 57.8 lap time 🥇
Winning Overall in dynamic races 🏆 🥇
UCLAN first top ten Overall in the competition out of over 100 universities world wide.
This woudn’t have been possible without the great team work the team produced with the faculty advisors and UCLAN and the sponsors Loctite Henkel RAVENOL Proseat International Schroth Racing Drexler Automotive GmbH
This is just the start for UCLan Motorsport watch out next year !

Final suspension wishbone testing before production starts!
