βοΈπ‘οΈ Warm weather making your little one fussy?
When babies get too hot, they can become uncomfortable, unsettled and harder to soothe, which may lead to more crying. As temperatures rise, itβs a good time to remember the ICON message:
I β Infant crying is normal, and it will stop.
Crying often increases from around two weeks of age, peaks between six and eight weeks, and then gradually decreases.
C β Comfort methods can help.
Try rocking, gentle touch, cuddles, or soothing sounds.
O β Itβs okay to walk away briefly if the crying becomes overwhelming.
Just make sure your baby is safe first.
N β Never, ever shake or hurt a baby.
Top tips to keep your baby cool and comfortable:
π Dress them in light, loose-fitting clothing
π Keep rooms cool by closing curtains or blinds during the day
π Use a fan to circulate air, but donβt point it directly at your baby
πΌ Offer feeds more frequently to help keep them hydrated
π Never leave a baby alone in a parked car β even for a moment
β οΈ If your baby seems unusually sleepy, irritable, or has fewer wet nappies than normal, they may be dehydrated. Consider seeking medical advice.
π Stay cool, stay safe, and remember:
Babies cry. You can cope.
