Lesson Feedback December 2025
Each term, I send feedback forms to parents and carers to support reflection on my own teaching practice. The first section of the form focuses on the teaching standards and asks parents to rate my practice against these standards. The second section invites parents to share their child’s views and experiences of their sessions with me. Below is a snapshot of the feedback received so far this term.

Due to unprecedented demand for our services, Hawthorn Education is looking to recruit a number of teachers to teach in the North West of the United Kingdom.
A bit about us…
Hawthorn Education is a private teaching organisation that works with young people who are not able to uptake their full-time educational offering. We are commissioned by local authorities and schools to work with young people throughout the North West. We work as far north as Barrow, all the way down to Skelmersdale, and from Blackpool all the way out to Accrington.
We work 1:1 with all our students, and put their needs first; we prioritise building positive, professional relationships with all our students. The learning will happen when they feel happy, secure and settled in themselves. This is an important process that has allowed us to help hundreds of students, changing their mindsets and improving their life chances for the future.
All our teachers are fully-qualified, experienced professionals, with a wealth of knowledge and skills to enable them to help young people re-engage in learning and begin to genuinely enjoy education once more. We teach Maths, English, Science, Religious Studies, Geography, History, Spanish & French, Art, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Music, and PSHE, from Early Years all the way up to A Level standard. In addition to this, we run regular forest school sessions in the superb Lancashire countryside, and can offer Assisted Equine Therapy at our stables.
We are also a registered exam centre - this allows us to teach, administer and award Entry Level and Functional Skills qualifications.
All our teachers are self employed, which helps maintain a work-life balance and we currently pay £32/hour plus travel expenses.
If you’re interested in working with us, you must be:
UK, North West-based,
Willing and able to undertake in-person teaching,
A fully qualified teacher having completed you NQT/ECT induction period,
Legally permitted to work in the UK.
If you are interested and can answer “Yes” to all of these questions, we’d love to hear from you.
Let’s start with you completing our application form: https://forms.gle/4A8E41Y1rYAcUwFC7
Hawthorn Education Services Ltd is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All applicants must be willing to undergo appropriate child protection screening, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.

My Saturday evening was spent reading this little known gem of a book. The best quality teaching and learning should always be trauma informed otherwise it ceases to be the best quality.
Transforming Schools: A Trauma-Informed Approach to Teaching, Learning and Healing Too many of our students bring the traumas of poverty, racism, stress, and family and community violence with them into our classrooms. If teachers, administrators, and other school staff aren’t equipped to hold space for them in a loving, compassionate, empathetic, and supportive way, their e...

🎉 2025 Exam Results – Huge Congratulations to My Students! 🎉
I’m so proud to share this year’s fantastic GCSE results from the students I’ve worked with across English, Maths, History, and Drama.
📊 Highlights from this year:
✅ Over 80% of my students met or exceeded their predicted grades
✅ Several students who started with me on a Grade 2 or 3 went on to achieve strong passes (4s and above)
✅ A number of students achieved Grade 8s and 9s in English Literature and Language – incredible progress!
✅ Many learners improved by two or more grades since signing up with me
🌟 A few standout successes:
My Maths resit students made amazing progress, with some moving from predicted 2s/3s to solid passes.
In English, I saw multiple learners jump two full grades above predictions, with one student going from a predicted Grade 4 to an actual Grade 8!
More than just grades, I’ve seen huge growth in my students’ confidence, resilience, and belief in themselves.
I believe every learner can thrive with the right support. These results are proof of my students’ dedication, the power of personalised 1-to-1 tuition, and the hard work we’ve put in together.
📚 I’m now taking bookings for the 2025/26 academic year. If you’d like support for your child – whether it’s catching up, building confidence, or pushing for top grades – get in touch with me today to secure a place.
👏 Congratulations once again to all of my amazing students – you’ve made me incredibly proud!

Another success story. This young lady really lacked in confidence and struggled with school. After a few short weeks working with me at Lytham Tutors, she’s now ready to start at her new school!
