🔍🪨 Year 3 Budding Scientists Investigate Rocks! 🪨🔍
Today, our enthusiastic Year 3 scientists put their investigative skills to the test as they explored the fascinating world of rocks! 🧑🔬
The children began by planning their own scientific enquiry question: Which rock is the hardest? 🤔💭 They carefully discussed how they could carry out a fair test before selecting the equipment needed for their investigation.
Using their observation and testing skills, the children compared a variety of rocks, investigating their hardness by carrying out practical tests and recording what they noticed. 📊✏️ They worked systematically, collected evidence and presented their findings just like real geologists! 🪨📖
Throughout the lesson, the children developed important skills from across the curriculum. They used mathematics to organise and compare results, English to explain their methods and conclusions, and critical thinking to evaluate the evidence they gathered. ✍️➕🧠
We were incredibly impressed by the curiosity, teamwork and perseverance shown by our budding scientists. 🌟 Their investigations helped them understand that different rocks have different properties and that scientists use evidence to answer questions about the world around them.
Who knows? We may have some future geologists, engineers or environmental scientists in our class! 🌍🔬✨
