What an unforgettable York residential for Year Six!
Day 1 was packed with history and adventure as we visited York Minster, climbed up to Cliffordβs Tower, found the famous Whip-Ma-Whop-Ma-Gate, stepped back in time at Jorvik to experience life in Viking-age York, and wandered through the cobbled streets of the Shambles, soaking up its unique atmosphere and historic charm. The day finished with a well-earned meal at Ask Italian and an overnight stay ready for more exploring.
On Day 2, we enjoyed a fantastic visit to the National Railway Museum, relaxed with lunch in the park, squeezed in a little shopping, and then headed home with lots of great memories.
Throughout the trip, our pupils were a real credit to the school. Their enthusiasm, curiosity and brilliant behaviour were noticed everywhere we went, and we couldnβt be prouder of the way they represented us. Well done to everyone involved for making it such a successful and enjoyable residential!

βοΈπ§ Water Safety Week in Year 5! π§βοΈ
With the hot weather continuing, Year 5 have been exploring the importance of staying safe around water as part of Water Safety Week. This has linked brilliantly to our wider curriculum, including PSHE (keeping ourselves safe), Science (understanding the effects of heat and the body), and Design & Technology/Art (creating purposeful safety posters).
The children have had thoughtful discussions about:
How to stay safe near rivers, lakes and the seaside
The importance of recognising risks in warm weather
What to do in an emergency
They then applied their learning by designing eye-catching water safety posters, combining creativity with clear, important messages to help keep others safe. It has been fantastic to see them working collaboratively, thinking critically, and showing such maturity in their understanding.
We are so proud of how engaged and responsible Year 5 have been taking their learning beyond the classroom and recognising how it applies to real-life situations, especially during this hot weather.
A brilliant example of learning with real purpose!

Year 2 have been busy botanists testing out what plants need to survive and grow well. This week we looked at the results of our experiments and found it interesting to see how plants did survive but didn't grow well without all the right conditions! Super scientists everyone!

Year 4 have had a very busy week! We've been to Rock and River, challenging ourselves to try new things. We had a great time and were very brave. We have had our class showcase, where we showed off what we have learnt to our parents and parents came to listen to us read in the reading cafe. We even found time to enjoy ice lollies on the field!

What a delicious day in Design & Technology! πππͺ Our Year 1 chefs got hands-on (safely!) practicing cutting techniques with a variety of fruits. The best part? They tasted their handiwork to decide which fruits will make it into the smoothies we're creating soon. π₯€β¨ We can't wait to blend up some tasty creations!

Year 6 Forest School session last week taught the children how to whittle. Using potato peelers, we whittled sticks to be able to use them as cooking implements in preparation of our upcoming weeks sessions.
