This morning we visited the allotment and got to work on two of our beds. We pulled up some weeds that had grown and then planted three blueberry bushes and 5 rhubarb crowns.
We then checked on all our other beds, where we have got garlic growing, some cabbages and cauliflowers as well as a lovely bed of colourful swiss chard.

Then, we bought some free range eggs from the local farm, and turned them into a sponge cake.
Thank you to Pauline and Louise Childminding for explaining where we could find the eggs π₯π₯π₯
A great day of learning which foods chickens eat, counting eggs, weighing and measuring, turn taking, lots of language and of course so much fun.

Foraging for horse chestnuts, taking risks, counting sticks, throwing leaves, investigating habitats and having the best time in Witch Woods with this little one today.
Now for some chestnut recipes please.

Our allotment is coming along nicely and we are starting to be able to make things with fruit we have harvested. Today we made jumbleberry jam ππ―π

Allotment life and home garden harvesting-we planted carrots, swede, beetroot and some flowers at the allotment this morning, and this afternoon we harvested our baby rainbow carrots. The children were so happy, shouting out the colours of the carrots π₯π₯π₯

Today we took a trip down to our newly purchased allotment. The children had the best time.
We used sticks as magic wands, we painted rocks, we sprayed plants, we piled up sticks to make a bug motel, we enjoyed a picnic and we layed some tarpaulin, as well as rescued a bumble bee that got stuck in the travel potty! No frogs today, probably because one of the little girls wonderful parents mowed the long grass for us, and they are not happy about that π€£
Our allotment is going to be a wonderful place for all the children in my care and their families to come and enjoy. Let the adventures begin # # #

Festive trip to Barton grange. We built towers our of boxes of beads and tinsle-we discussed the shapes of the boxes, how tall the towers were, which one was biggest/smallest. We enjoyed our lunch in the cafe followed by a festive treat, we talked about all the different colours, the different shapes in the environment and we danced and sang with the yetis and penguins! Oh and we completed mark making and story time while we were there too ππ

Climbing, pulling, pushing, slipping and sliding to get those gross motor skills developing. Followed by a trip to the mini zoo for understanding the world π
Part of my job as an early year's provider is to encourage the children to develop their gross motor skills. One way to do this on a cold winters day is to go to a play centre π climbing up the various obstacles and then sliding down the slippy slide π over and over again hehe π

All things Christmas tree today π we read the story The Christmas Pine together- talking about the images and counting the reindeer etc. The girls then had fun using loose parts to decorate a Christmas tree and to create their very own Christmas Pine-cone, by stuffing pompoms and wrapping pipecleaners around the pinecones. They also had fun being creative making their own Christmas tree wrapping paper using paints and cookie cutters π
