Last week, Y5&6 played in a Fairtrade Friendly Football Tournament with St. Patrick’s, Walton Le Dale and Cottam Primary School. As always, our English Martyrs’ children did us proud! They showed great determination, resilience and perseverance. Some children ran a Fairtrade stall handing out tea, coffee and biscuits to the spectators. Well done Years 5 and 6! You were the overall winners but your sportsmanship made us ever prouder! Fair Preston & South Ribble

Madame Mayor visited school on Tuesday she visited classes and enjoyed a great tour of school by our head and deputy head boys and girls. She answered many questions from the children from do you live in a mansion to can you be a Mayor twice. She complimented school on how welcoming, friendly, happy, calm and positive we are with such polite, inquisitive, well-mannered, very well behaved and confident children. Thank you Madam Mayor!

Last Monday, Mr Souter worked with Y5&6 to deliver part of the Debt Aware programme. Learning about what to spend money on, thinking about their needs & wants. Y6 delved into the world of work and were astounded to see the differences in salaries for some occupations. All children behaved brilliantly and Mr Souter commented and how eager they were to join in and how they were quick to retain knowledge and apply it to their work. Well done to all involved and thank you Mr Souter, it is always a pleasure!

Yesterday, on the anniversary of the martyr Ambrose Barlow, we celebrated a New School Year Mass with Fr Paddy who was fabulously assisted by our new Chaplaincy Team. A thought provoking sermon, make your mark this year and make your name! Shine on superstars!
