🎭 Bringing Shakespeare to life!

This week, our A Level English Literature students travelled to HOME Theatre, Manchester, to watch Northern Stage’s exciting new production of Othello.

Seeing the play performed live gave students a fantastic opportunity to deepen their understanding of the text, bringing Shakespeare’s powerful themes of jealousy, power, race and manipulation to life beyond the classroom. The performance also encouraged students to explore different interpretations of the play and consider the impact of key theatrical choices.

A memorable and enriching experience that will undoubtedly support their studies as they continue their exploration of this classic tragedy. 📚✨

📈 Inspiring careers insight for our Business students!

Our Business students recently enjoyed an engaging talk from Olly, founder of Stockford Recruitment, who shared valuable insights into the world of work and future career opportunities.

Olly provided plenty of practical advice on preparing for employment, standing out to employers, and making the most of every opportunity that comes their way. His message encouraged students to be proactive, build their skills, and take advantage of experiences that can help shape their future careers.

A huge thank you to Olly and Stockford Recruitment for taking the time to support and inspire our students as they plan their next steps towards successful careers. 👏

🌊🏊‍♀️ An Incredible Challenge for Newman Student Divya! 🏊‍♀️🌊

Divya, one of our Year 12 students studying A-Level PE, Maths and Business Studies, is on an extraordinary mission to complete the Oceans Seven before she turns 19.

The Oceans Seven is widely regarded as the swimming equivalent of the Seven Summits challenge, featuring seven of the world's most challenging and dangerous open water channel swims. So far, Divya has already conquered both the North Channel and the Catalina Channel, a remarkable achievement for any athlete.

Tomorrow, Friday 2 October, weather and sea conditions permitting, Divya will take on her next challenge: swimming the English Channel. 👏

Alongside her incredible sporting achievements, Divya is passionate about empowering girls through sport and is raising money for BBC Children in Need through her fundraising campaign.

We are immensely proud of Divya's determination, resilience and ambition, and we wish her the very best of luck as she prepares for this next stage of her inspiring journey.

🌟 Newman Day 2026 🌟

Yesterday, our Year 12 students took part in Newman Day, a fantastic day of learning, reflection and new experiences.

Throughout the day, students participated in a wide range of engaging sessions, including mindfulness Zentangle workshops, an interactive Trading Game, an inspiring talk from Mary's Meals, a thought-provoking Choose Life session, Positive About Polymers, and activities exploring the importance of Fairtrade and global responsibility.

The day encouraged students to reflect on themes such as human dignity, solidarity, social justice and care for creation, while considering how they can make a positive difference in the world around them.

A huge thank you to all of the speakers, organisations and visitors who gave up their time to support the day. Your expertise, passion and insight helped make Newman Day such a meaningful and memorable experience for our students.
