We recently welcomed back some of our former Foundation Learning students to speak with our current Year 12 learners — and what an inspiring session it was 💬

Our alumni shared their journeys since leaving college, including their experiences in further education, supported internships, employment, and life beyond Foundation Learning. It was especially wonderful to hear that two of our former students are now in paid employment, with one even working in catering here at Cardinal Newman College 👏

It was fantastic to see our former students return with such confidence and to celebrate all they have achieved — a true inspiration to others 💙

🌟 Celebrating an Amazing Achievement 🌟
We’re incredibly proud of former Foundation Learning student Hajrah, who recently attended the Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award presentation at Buckingham Palace.

Hajrah completed her Gold Award while studying at Newman — a fantastic accomplishment that reflects her dedication, resilience, and commitment. Last week, she had the honour of receiving her award at the palace, where she also met the Duke of Edinburgh.

The photos also capture Hajrah meeting Dame Kelly Holmes, making the occasion even more memorable.

You’ll play a key part in keeping our campus running smoothly, including:

✅️ Ensuring site security and keyholding
✅️ Completing safety checks (fire alarms, emergency lighting, etc.)
✅️ Managing deliveries and stock levels

📍 Business Studies Trip to Google HQ
Our recent Business Studies trip to Google HQ was an incredible experience for everyone involved.

The day was organised by Working Options, a fantastic charity dedicated to connecting young people with opportunities to learn from and engage with businesses across a wide range of industries.

Ten of our students were given the chance to hear from inspiring speakers — including Olympic champion Alastair Brownlee — as well as industry experts exploring the growing impact of AI and how it will shape the future world of work.

Everyone gained valuable insights and took a huge amount away from the day. It was also great to see some of our students being interviewed by keynote speaker Shuab Gamote, as captured in the photos.
