This Week’s Theme: Africa 🌍
We have been very busy exploring the wonderful continent of Africa this week!
Our children have enjoyed a variety of creative and imaginative activities, including:
🐘 Making elephants using plasticine.
🎭 Using stencils to create traditional African masks.
📿 Designing and making colourful beaded bracelets.
🏡 Transforming our role-play areas into a traditional African house and an exciting safari adventure.
🟧 Using pegboards to recreate beautiful African-inspired patterns.
💦 Keeping cool outdoors by playing in the water tray with alligators and hippos.
🍍🍊 Working together to make a delicious tropical fruit punch.
It has been a fantastic week full of creativity, teamwork, and learning as we explored the sights, animals, patterns, and traditions inspired by Africa. We can’t wait to see what adventures next week brings! 🌍✨

Year 5 Impress at the Dunstone Cup ⚽️✨️
Our Year 5 football team had a fantastic day representing St Clare’s at the Dunstone Cup, held at Fulwood Academy. With 20 schools taking part, the standard of football was extremely high, but our children rose to the challenge brilliantly.
From the very first match, the team played with energy, confidence and determination. They worked hard for one another, showed great sportsmanship and produced some excellent football throughout the tournament. Their teamwork and positive attitude helped them progress all the way to the quarter-finals, which was a brilliant achievement in such a competitive event.
We were also delighted that two of our players were recognised with individual awards for their outstanding football during the tournament. This was a proud moment for the team and showed just how well our children performed on the day.
Every player should be incredibly proud of their efforts. They represented St Clare’s superbly and showed exactly what can be achieved through teamwork, resilience and a positive attitude.
Well done, Year 5!

A Very Special Day at the Mater Ecclesiae Trust Gathering ✨️🌟
Four of our Year 5 children had the wonderful opportunity to attend a Mater Ecclesiae Trust (MAT) workshop and Mass, alongside pupils from other academy schools.
It was truly a fantastic and memorable day, filled with faith, creativity, and community. The children took part in a range of meaningful activities, including creating a beautiful piece of artwork that will contribute to a shared Mater Ecclesiae Trust display, celebrating the unity of all our schools.
They also enjoyed an inspiring session with CAFOD, where they explored important values such as compassion, justice and caring for others around the world. This was followed by a lively singing and Mass preparation workshop, helping everyone get ready for a very special celebration.
After sharing lunch together, the day culminated in a joyful Mass celebrated by Bishop Paul Swarbrick — a truly special moment that brought everyone together in God.
The event was held at Christ the King High School, and we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to them, and to Mrs Charnley, for organising such a beautiful and meaningful day for all involved.
What a blessing it was to come together in faith, friendship and community — a day our pupils will remember for a long time!

On Tuesday, our Year 5 pupils had an exciting opportunity to visit Corpus Christi High School for a taster day. It was a fantastic experience that gave the children a glimpse of what secondary school life is like.
Throughout the day, the children took part in a range of engaging lessons. In German, they learned some new words and phrases and enjoyed practising speaking a different language. During RE, they explored thoughtful ideas and shared their opinions. The computing session was a particular highlight, where pupils used technology in creative and interesting ways.
As part of the visit, we were also lucky enough to watch scenes from the high school’s upcoming summer production of Mary Poppins. The performance was brilliant and really inspired the children – there were lots of smiles and excitement!
We were incredibly proud of how well our children behaved throughout the day. They showed excellent manners, enthusiasm and respect, and represented St Clare’s beautifully.
A big thank you to Corpus Christi High School for making us feel so welcome and giving us such a memorable experience.
