One week. Countless new experiences. Endless possibilities. 🐾✨

Our 2026 Veterinary Summer School has come to a close, and what an incredible week it’s been! 🩺🤩

In collaboration with Medivet & Partners, we welcomed aspiring veterinary students from underrepresented backgrounds for a week of hands-on learning, clinical skills, animal handling and career inspiration.

From developing practical veterinary techniques, exploring comparative anatomy, hearing from veterinary professionals to getting hands-on with animal handling at Myerscough College & University Centre and meeting a variety of animals, every day brought new experiences and opportunities to learn. 🐴🐄🐰🐶

A huge thank you to our staff, student ambassadors, Medivet and everyone at Myerscough College who helped make the week such a success. 💙

We’re excited to see what the future holds for these aspiring vets! 🌟🐾

Swipe through to see some of our highlights from the week and hear from some of our students as they share their favourite moments! 📸👏🏻

Why parents and guardians shouldn't fear University Clearing 06/08/2026

Do you know a young person who is waiting on their A Level results to secure a place at university?

Our Director of Student Recruitment, Gareth Jackson, has some comforting advice to help you prepare ahead of Results Day.

The wait is finally over… Summer School starts today! 🤩

Ahead of the programme, we challenged some of our academics involved in delivering the week to describe it in just three words.

And, one word in particular stood out… FUN✨

We can’t wait to welcome this year’s cohort onto campus later today for a week full of new experiences, hands-on learning and, of course, plenty of fun!

We were delighted to attend Elefest at Blackpool Zoo last week and share more about our partnership in tackling Elephant Endotheliotropic Herpes Virus (EEHV), a disease that can be fatal to young elephants if not detected and treated quickly!

Alongside researchers from Blackpool Zoo, OptiGene and Medicine & Dentistry at the University of Lancashire, we’ve developed a rapid molecular test that uses LAMP technology to test saliva and faecal samples, supporting timely treatment decisions.

Designed for use beyond the laboratory, this technology can be taken directly into elephants natural habitats, helping conservationists monitor and respond to disease threats in real time.

This project highlights the power of our One Health approach, bringing together expertise from veterinary medicine, medicine and conservation to help protect one of the world’s most endangered species!🐘💙
