We often take inspiration from outdoors when creating things indoors.
Our Reception class have used Oxalis Triangularis as their inspiration for their watercolor paintings.

They are a triumph!! 💜☘️

Reading is such an important part of Early Years.
We have a wide variety of books available in our Forest School sessions for the children to help themselves to, but the children are really drawn to non-fiction.
They love reading and discussing birds, insects and wildlife that they have seen in real life.

Charcoal tree rubbings.
Using the old charcoal from a fire we've had, a small piece of paper, and the opportunity to experiment with contrasting textures of different trees.
This amazing lesson requires a minimal amount of instructions and lots of freedom to fill your paper with various patterns from differing tree species.

Sometimes there's planning that goes into what to do with the puddle....

We've had fishing, pouring, making a bridge over them, running through them, throwing things in, and good old splashing.
