It’s Autumn and GRUFFALO GRANNY has arrived! 🍁

I am so excited to read to my little ones the brand-new Gruffalo Granny book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler! That excited that I’ve had to read it to my husband this weekend 😂😃🤩

After more than 20 years, we’re heading back into the Deep Dark Wood to meet a very special new member of the Gruffalo family… Gruffalo Granny! Perfectly aged with grey fur, broken tusk and a walking stick and bag. 🩶🌳🍄

The Gruffalo and his daughter are getting ready for Granny’s visit, but Granny has quite an appetite! 🐾😋 Meanwhile, the clever little Mouse is back, along with some much-loved woodland friends. 🐭🦊🦉🐍

I absolutely love that this new story celebrates grandparents, storytelling and sharing stories between generations which is perfect learning for my little ones.❤️

I’ll be bringing Gruffalo Granny into my autumn activities including painting, learning colours of leaves, storytelling, imaginative play, puppet play, making apple crumbles and we may even venture into the Deep Dark Wood to explore. We also have some fabulous new sensory mats.🍁🍂🌳

And just like that, my two little (big) preschoolers have finished their time at Jo Jo’s and are getting ready to start school next week. 😃🎒❤️

It feels like such a big milestone, especially as I’ve had both of their siblings too, and have been lucky enough to be part of their lovely families for over 7 years.

Watching them grow from tiny little ones into the amazing, confident children they are today has been such a privilege. We’ve shared so many happy memories, cuddles, adventures including the zoo, laughter, funny stories, friendships and special moments along the way. ❤️

Saying goodbye is always the hardest part of being a childminder, but I feel incredibly grateful to have been part of their early years, to have watched them flourish and to able to confidently say that they are totally school ready. 👌👍

I’m going to miss you both so much, but I know you’re going to be absolutely amazing at school and I know will still see you. 🙏🌟😃

Thank you to your mummies and daddies for trusting me with your precious little ones and for allowing me to be part of your lives for so many years. ❤️

Good luck girls, remember you are the brightest stars so go and shine! 🌈🎒✨

This activity started out with a box of bricks. Two of my little ones were one minute banging two together making an absolute racket 🤦‍♀️😂, the next minute my pre schooler and other little girl had turned a few bricks into two computers. Following this we chatted about what they were doing and I was able to help them extend their learning by adding other resources. This was such a fabulous display of imagination and a joy to watch. I love seeing how they see the world in their own little ways. It kept them occupied for some time, with another little one joining in also.

This is often called scaffolding - giving just enough support or challenge to help them move their learning forward.

It’s so important to give little minds the time, space and freedom to imagine, create and explore. 😃🤩☺️

Summer so far at Jo Jo’s ☀️🌸

What a busy and fun-filled summer we’ve had so far! ☀️ With two of the gang getting ready to spread their wings and start school at the end of summer, we’ve been making the most of every moment together. 💕

We’ve had lots of fun, laughter, adventures and plenty of learning along the way — because at Jo Jo’s, learning happens everywhere! 🌈📚
It’s been a pleasure to be part of their memories that they have been making with all their friends. And whilst adding a little more knowledge and experiences to those invisible rucksacks. 🎒✨

I just love watching them grow in confidence, independence and curiosity while simply having fun and being themselves. ❤️

Here’s to making the most of the rest of our summer together! ☀️🥰

Well what a fun few weeks we’ve had. We have jingled, jangled and jungled our way through June. Little ones have loved playing with the jungle magnetics and building a zoo whilst naming animals. They have had lots of puppet fun with each other which brought great conversation and giggles from them all. The small world animals have roamed everywhere inside and out and on occasions it sounded like we were in a real jungle/zoo. Our garden is also looking like a jungle now and we have enjoyed watching the plants and flowers grow. They have listened to lots of stories including The Tiger Came Who to Tea which is always a favourite. Actually everyone came to tea.
It’s definitely been a busy one and now it’s time for a break. Despite my little ones wanting to come with me on holiday I’ve decided that they need to stay at home and have a rest! ❤️🤦‍♀️😂👍🥰

May has been all about mini beasts and life cycles. It’s so important for children to learn about nature, the environment and how to care for living creatures. Life cycles always creates curiosity, lots of interest and questions. My little ones have engaged in craft activities, been counting/sorting, listened to various stories (Oi Frog a definite favourite), jigsaws, sensory activities, role play, played with friends and been on lots of bug hunts. We’ve also had to battle the most weird weather from absolutely cracking the flags to hail stone.
Today is World Bee Day and it’s been a pretty dull day with not many bees dancing around in the garden. We think they must all be at a party in someone else’s garden 🤷‍♀️😂🐝

What a fabulous two weeks we’ve had. 😎The weather has been glorious and we have been mostly outdoors, getting fresh air and having freedom to play and run about.
We had a lovely outing with our friends one day to the farm. We all throughly enjoyed seeing the different animals and feeding them. We saw mum wonder across the car park with her baby chicks. Too many to count! We also had a trip to the local duck pond one day to see the progress of the chicks. 🐥 It’s fair to say that everyone had a lovely time. ☺️
Outdoor learning really is so beneficial for childrens development and wellbeing. There’s so much to learn through nature and it encourages children to love and respect the world around us. 🐥 🐸🪻🐖🌷🐄😃

Some photos from early April …..it’s started off rainy and gloomy weather wise but thankfully the sun eventually made an appearance. The garden started to wake up and nature is on the move. 🐝🪻🐞🌷🐥Easter was lovely and it was great to have some of my older ones coming back to play. The beauty of being a childminder is watching all ages play together. Little ones love the older ones and equally the older ones love the little ones 😃☺️🥰
