The first week of the new academic year has been busy, productive and full of energy!

Our students, looking very smart in their school uniforms, have settled straight back into school life and are already getting stuck into their learning.

A particularly warm welcome to our new Year 7 students, who have brought a fantastic buzz of excitement with them. It’s been wonderful to see so many new faces around school as they begin their journey with us.

Here’s to a fantastic year ahead — we’re looking forward to seeing what everyone achieves!

Students at the John Beddoes Campus of Newtown High School celebrated a morning of achievement as GCSE results reflected the hard work, determination and resilience shown throughout their studies.

With many students securing excellent grades and opening doors to exciting next steps, there was a real sense of pride and celebration across the school community.

Among the students recording top level marks are:
• Oliver Whittaker Brown; Sienna Darrell; Mari Scott; Thomas Ford; Faryl Collins; David Williams; Evelyn Long and Lillie Robinson.

Headteacher Mrs Havard said:

"Today is a day of celebration for our students, who should be immensely proud of all they have achieved. These results are a reflection of their commitment, perseverance and determination to succeed."

"We are equally grateful to our dedicated staff and supportive families, whose encouragement and guidance have played such an important role in our students' success. At Newtown High School, we are proud of every young person, whatever their results, and we look forward to seeing them continue to flourish as they take the next steps in their education, training and future careers."

Letters to our future selves✏️🍎

At the beginning of year 7 our learners wrote letters to themselves at the end of year 7 with what they'd like to achieve in their first year of high school. We enjoyed opening these in our wellbeing lesson.

We then carried out a reflection task looking at our achievements both in and out of school, challenges we've had this year and hopes for year 8.

A huge da iawn to our blwyddyn 7's for a fantastic year👏🏻

Keep an eye out in the next parish magazine for some of our highlights this year produced by the learners👀📖

Year 7 Community Day Litter Pick.

As part of the school’s Community Day, Year 7 students took part in a litter pick around the local area to help improve the environment and give back to the community.

Armed with litter pickers, gloves, and bags, pupils worked enthusiastically in teams to collect rubbish from pathways, green spaces, and areas around town.

The students showed great determination and teamwork throughout the activity, taking pride in helping to keep the local area clean and safe for everyone. Their efforts not only made an immediate difference to the environment but also highlighted the importance of respecting and caring for the community we all share.

The litter pick provided a valuable opportunity for pupils to develop a sense of responsibility and civic pride while learning about the impact that litter can have on wildlife, local habitats, and the wider environment.

Year 7 represented the school brilliantly, demonstrating maturity, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude throughout the day.
We are extremely proud of all the students who took part and contributed to making our community a cleaner and more welcoming place.

Their hard work and commitment were a fantastic example of our school values in action.
