Making mini cheesecakes today and my “recipe” is just me giving ratios and approximations.

It’s just a bit more than 1 biscuit per pot and we’ve got 6 pots, how many should we use? (The answer is 7) she said six. So we weigh that out and we need to mix in butter at a ratio of 1:2 butter to crumb how much do we need?

Normally I use actual recipes with her, but this is how I prefer to do it and I literally could not be bothered to pre write a recipe so we just made cheesecakes as I do. She’s a little weirded out by it but much better math and critical thinking. We also talked about the benefits of knowing what each ingredient is doing so you can eyeball when you need more or less.

I have been penpalling since I was ten years old. Every week we go to my PO Box to check for letters and once a week I sit down with a coffee and my letters and supplies to respond. I have tried to get J involved but the damage school did on her writing confidence is severe!

This week she said she wanted a penpal but she has to be allowed to type. Fine.
She sat down and wrote her penpal ad out. I posted it and she has two responses. A little girl who has offered to write first and a little boy. I expected her to type. I expected a short letter.

My momma heart is overjoyed! We’re posting tomorrow when we check to see if she’s got a letter in the PO Box 💖

After an amazing day at forest school we decided to walk home through the park and came across police officers flying their drone…. When they were done they invited her to land it 💖

Today we tracked animals, made fairy bracelets, and decorated story stones, but the highlight of forest school was the knot tying lesson where we finished up by making stick swords.

First day of school yesterday and we’re looking at the Mabinogion

Not back to school shopping when you have no stationary shops and have to travel an hour to reach general shops which have stationary shelves… 🙇‍♀️

We’ll be starting our school year with Welsh mythology, and what could be a better companion book than the Mabinogion? We’ll be looking not only at the folk lore, but the art of oral storytelling, Welsh history and geography.
