As your child returns to secondary school, keep this checklist handy to look for signs of dyslexia.

If you have concerns, the first step is to speak to the teachers and SENCo about your concerns.

They will be asked to fill out a questionnaire for the assessor to learn about your child’s background and current difficulties. Parents will also be asked to complete a questionnaire.

A dyslexia diagnosis isn’t just a label - it’s the foundation for the support, adaptations and understanding your child will receive for years to come.

Is it back to school anxiety, or early signs of dyslexia?

As the days count down, you may notice a shift in your child's behaviour - they could be feeling a little extra clingy, complaining of tummy aches, or you've noticed an increase in "I don't want to go" moments.

Children naturally feel anxious returning to school.

The return to routines. Early nights. Bells ringing. Classrooms.

And for many children, especially those who found reading or writing difficult last year, these worries can be a sign of something deeper.
