This week in Home Ed the group worked together to build a den so that they were camouflaged. The children used rakes to brush out their den and built their own ‘campfire’ inside (minus the flames!). In circle time we discussed how to look after our wildlife and decided to start building a hedgehog hotel. We are using old bricks to form the structure and cleared a spot in the hedgerow where the hedgehogs won’t be disturbed. On the craft table some children made pass-the-parcel using conkers as the prize, while another made a conker fairy and we added a well to our fairy garden. We finished our day by cooking popcorn on the campfire 🦔🍁🍂

Today’s session started with the group tidying the area around our new fairy village tree. The children cleared the area and used the rakes to make space for their creations. During the morning we continued our learning of autumnal crafts and looked at what we could do with conkers. Some children painted the surface and others chose to thread the conkers onto string to make decorations and animals. In the afternoon we had a campfire followed by a great time on the zip line. It was lovely to see the children coming together and joining hands to ‘rescue’ each other back up the bank after zooming down the zip line. Great teamwork everyone!

Another lovely day in Home Ed. The children made some amazing creations using cinnamon salt dough. In the afternoon the children learnt the story of Gertrude the dragon and how Gertrude sat on the fairy village destroying the buildings there. The children were inspired by the story to start their own fairy village completed with pine one lights, leaf hammocks and twig ladders!
