Outdoor Woodland Learning School - OWLS CIC Have fantastic fun in the forest making dens, climbing trees, firelighting, playing wide games and getting deliciously messy all while making new friends.

We provide outdoor learning and fun including Forest School activities. It was started in January 2012 in response to the need for outdoor play and learning for children and young people. It is run by a qualified primary teacher with 20 years experience in the outdoors. I am on the supply list for Aberdeenshire so I can also work in schools as a teacher providing outdoor learning.

It's run by Emma who has a tonne of experience, and is a wonderfully talented practitioner. Highly recommend

Despite it's fearsome appearance the giant wood wasp, or horntail is totally harmless to us.

The long stinger like tail is actually an ovipositor that she uses to lay her eggs into wood, pine is a favourite. The larvae then live in the wood for up to 5 years.

They sound like little helicopters flying past! 💛

The weather has been fabulous, and the wood wasps have been wonderful!! We all LOVE these amazing insects, and a highlight has been hearing the cries of 'wood wasp, wood wasp!!' by a keen eyed spotter quickly followed by a stampede of wee feet running towards the call, and then oooos and aaaahs over these BIG, harmless beasties. Makes our hearts happy!

Thank you for trusting your incredible kids with us - adventurous, kind, imaginative, full of energy 🥵😜😂 and oodles of enthusiasm all of them - we have loved every minute of being wild and dangerous together!

We're always in awe of the coast. In awe of how dynamic it is. The mood of the forest always changes - sure, but the coast is a next level chameleon! Sunday was LOUD - biiig waves crashing on to the shore. Today was so, so calm, and quiet, and just what was needed 🩵🙏

Self-Directed Support (SDS) funded 4x hour 1:1 sessions: fun, social, educative opportunities with passionate, creative, and experienced practitioners for children with disabilities or additional support needs, while giving families a vital break. Includes transport 🚕
