Lower Park Choir Crowned Champions at Chester Cathedral
There was celebration at Lower Park School this week as our outstanding school choir was crowned winners of the prestigious Love Music Trust Cheshire and Wirral Schools Choir Final, held in the magnificent surroundings of Chester Cathedral.
Representing Cheshire East, the choir competed against schools from Chester and Cheshire West in a spectacular final. Performing beneath the soaring arches of the cathedral was an unforgettable experience, and the children rose to the occasion with confidence, passion and joy.
The songs had been chosen to reflect hope, friendship and resilience, and the choir delivered each piece with heartfelt emotion. Led by Mrs Jones and supported by Mrs Livingstone, the children's voices filled the cathedral with a rich, uplifting sound that captivated both the audience and the judges.
One of the highlights of the performance was Waiting on a Wish, featuring courageous soloists whose performance the judge described as "simply brilliant" and praised for showing "such bravery."
The choir then brought smiles to faces throughout the cathedral with a spirited rendition of Disney's Heigh-Ho from Snow White. Their enjoyment was infectious, with every child clearly relishing the opportunity to perform on such a prestigious stage.
The performance concluded with the timeless classic Tomorrow from Annie. It was a truly moving finale, delivered with warmth, sincerity and hope. There was scarcely a dry eye from the supporters in the cathedral as the final notes echoed through the historic building.
Headteacher Amelia Lomas said:
"We are incredibly proud of every single member of our choir. They sang with such heart, confidence and joy, and represented Lower Park and Cheshire East beautifully. Winning this competition is a wonderful achievement, but what made us proudest was the way they supported one another and performed with such courage and enthusiasm. Huge thanks must also go to Mrs Jones and Mrs Livingstone for their dedication, inspiration and countless hours of dedication."
This remarkable success is the culmination of months of hard work and commitment. The choir's journey has been enthusiastically supported by families and the wider Lower Park community, who have encouraged them every step of the way.
Congratulations to our amazing choir on an unforgettable achievement. We couldn't be prouder!
