Hello guys,
Itโs Ambika, your Wellbeing Officer for the SU. Today is World Mental Health Day, a day meant to raise awareness and support for mental health issues and fight social stigma.
This yearโs theme is "Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change" and aims to focus on the people who have lived experience with mental health conditions, and recognize their voices as valuable insight that can help create the policy, services, and decisions that shape their lives.
Within the RVC community, we have many colleagues that are working hard to ensure these voices are heard. It is important to continue to raise awareness, and create space for people to speak up about their experiences to advocate for change that can benefit everyone.
Conversations about mental health are an important part of reducing the stigma surrounding these conditions, but the most important part is making sure people feel heard. The RVC community has always felt welcoming to me, and has helped me grow and work through my own struggles. As students undertaking challenging courses, itโs important we take care of each other, while also supporting ourselves.
There is so much support available for you at the RVC, whether itโs your peers, the SU, or the advice center. You are not alone, and we are stronger together.
Thank you for taking the time to read this message, and donโt hesitate to reach out to me for a chat. I am here for you.
Your SU Wellbeing Officer,
Ambika Chaudhuri
