Helping students build confidence and improve grades in AQA Combined Science. Simply Science Tuition provides online GCSE Science tuition for students in Years 9–11. Weekly small-group Zoom classes focus on AQA Combined Science and are designed to build confidence, improve understanding, and strengthen exam technique. Sessions are taught by experienced UK science teacher Rysia Connolly and include clear explanations, exam specific resources, past paper practice, and ongoing support for students. Based in Potters Bar, Hertfordshire, with students attending online from across the UK.

Year 11 means one thing at this time of year…mock season is coming! 😅📚

With mocks taking place in many schools around October/November, my Year 11 groups are now moving fully into Paper 1 mock exam preparation.

Over the three weeks leading up to October half term, we’ll focus on:

🧬 Biology Paper 1
⚗️ Chemistry Paper 1
⚡ Physics Paper 1

Rather than simply reteaching all of the content, these sessions will have a big focus on working through lots of past-paper questions - revisiting key Paper 1 knowledge as we go, spotting common question types and really working on the exam technique needed to pick up those marks 🎯

We’ll look at how to approach calculations, longer-answer questions, required practicals and those questions where you know the science… but the mark scheme somehow wants something ridiculously specific 😂

Each 75-minute LIVE session includes:

📚 Student workbook and lesson resources
✍️ Lots of past-paper question practice
🎯 Exam technique and mark-scheme guidance
🧠 Revision of key Paper 1 content as we go
👩‍🏫 A small, friendly and supportive group

And a reminder that my Year 11 groups are split by tier, so students can join a group appropriate for the paper they’ll actually be sitting:

🟢 Foundation Tier: Wednesdays or Thursdays, 5:45–7:00pm

🔵 Higher Tier: Monday 5:45–7:00pm, Wednesday or Thursday 7:00–8:15pm

💷 £35 per 75-minute session, including all resources.

My Year 10 groups are switching things up for October!

After working our way through some of the trickier Chemistry content in September, we’re moving over to GCSE Physics for the three weeks leading up to October half term.

October’s sessions will cover:

📏 Density
⚡ Energy Transfers
🌡️ Specific Latent Heat

The aim is to work through this section of the GCSE Physics course before we break up for half term, with plenty of time spent not just understanding the content, but applying it to GCSE-style questions and calculations too ✍️🧠

As always, each 75-minute LIVE session with me includes:

🧪 Clear, step-by-step teaching
📚 Student workbooks and lesson resources
✍️ Plenty of exam-question practice
🎯 GCSE exam technique
🏠 Optional homework booklet + answers
👩‍🏫 A small, friendly and supportive group

My Year 9 Science group is heading into October and we’re now on the final stretch of KS3 Science before making the move into GCSE content! 🧪

For the three weeks before October half term, we’ll be covering:

⚡ Energy Transfers
💷 Energy Costs
🌱 Photosynthesis

These are some really important foundation topics, so we’ll be making sure they’re secure before we take that next step.

Then, straight after October half term, we’ll officially start GCSE Science content! 💪

The whole idea of this Year 9 group is to make that transition from KS3 → GCSE feel gradual and manageable - building confidence, strengthening the basics and introducing GCSE-style questions and exam technique along the way 💪

Each 75-minute LIVE session with me includes:

🧪 Clear, step-by-step teaching
📚 Student workbooks and lesson resources
✍️ Plenty of question practice
🎯 Exam technique introduced from the start
🏠 Optional homework booklet + answers
👩‍🏫 A small, friendly and supportive group

My students get a say too! 🗳️🧪

One of the things I love about my booster groups is that there’s flexibility in what we cover each month.

I tutor students from lots of different schools, and as we all know… no two schools seem to teach the GCSE Science topics in quite the same order! 😅

So each month, I choose a selection of topics that I know are appropriate for that year group, and then I ask the students what THEY would most like some extra help with.

They vote… and the winner helps decide what we tackle next! 🙌

Each year group also has its own dedicated WhatsApp group, which means I can run polls like this, answer quick questions and keep in touch with students between our weekly sessions.

Obviously, when we get closer to mocks and exams, things become a little more structured so that we’re covering what they need at the right time. But outside of that, I love giving students some ownership over their sessions - especially when there’s a topic they know they’re struggling with.

And all of that WhatsApp support between sessions is included in the £35 session fee 👌

A huge thank you to all the families who have already booked their child’s place. I can’t wait to welcome both new and returning students from 7th September!

Year 11 GCSE Science - We’re back from Monday 7th September and it’s time to get serious about GCSEs! 🎯

I’m really looking forward to welcoming back lots of my existing students, as well as some lovely new faces joining us for Year 11.

September’s focus is a tricky GCSE Biology topic:

🧬 Reproduction & Meiosis
👨‍👩‍👧 Genetic Inheritance
🌱 Variation & Evolution
🐾 Selective Breeding

Year 11 goes incredibly quickly. There’s still content to complete, mocks to prepare for and earlier topics to revisit 😅

So from September we’ll be working consistently on knowledge, exam technique and past-paper questions to make sure students are as prepared and confident as possible 🙏

I also have dedicated Foundation Tier groups, specifically focused on helping students working towards those crucial Grades 4-5, alongside my Higher Tier groups.

I’ve got lots of familiar faces returning from last year, alongside some lovely new students and we’re getting straight into GCSE Chemistry! 💪

This September we’ll be covering:

Year 10 is such an important year for GCSE Science. The content starts to ramp up, topics become more challenging and there’s a LOT to get through before Year 11…

My aim is to make sure students don’t just learn the science - they understand how to apply it to GCSE exam questions and pick up the marks. 🎯

We’ll be starting the year by finishing off some of those really important KS3 Science topics before making the move into GCSE content over the next couple of months 👍

September’s sessions will cover:

🌍 The Carbon Cycle
🌡️ Global Warming
📈 Distance–Time Graphs
⚡ Work Done

The aim is to make that jump from KS3 to GCSE feel gradual rather than overwhelming - strengthening the foundations first, then building up the GCSE knowledge, exam skills and confidence they’ll need as they move through Year 9 💪
