Vikki’s Childcare Curriculum

My curriculum is child-centred, play-based and built around each child’s individual interests, needs and development. I provide a warm, nurturing environment where children feel safe, valued and confident to explore, learn and develop.

Our curriculum covers the 7 areas of learning and development:

* 🗣️ Communication & Language – talking, listening, stories, songs, rhymes and developing vocabulary.
* ❤️ Personal, Social & Emotional Development – relationships, confidence, independence, managing emotions and learning to share and cooperate.
* 🏃 Physical Development – outdoor play, climbing, balancing, dancing, messy play and developing fine-motor skills.
* 📚 Literacy – books, mark-making, phonics awareness, storytelling and developing a love of reading.
* 🔢 Mathematics – counting, number recognition, shapes, patterns, sorting, measuring and mathematical language through everyday play.
* 🌍 Understanding the World – nature, seasons, animals, people, communities, cultures, cooking, gardening and exploring the local environment.
* 🎨 Expressive Arts & Design – painting, music, singing, dancing, role play, creative activities and imaginative play.

I also use children’s individual interests and observations to identify their next steps and provide activities that extend their learning.

✨Group spotlight✨ Big Steps for Babies & Crawlers, running from Somerstown Family Hub every Monday, 12.45-2.15pm and Paulsgrove Family Hub every Wednesday, 1-2.30pm.

Looking for a relaxed way to spend time with your little one and connect with other local families?

As part of our Big Steps offer, we have a free Stay & Play group running twice a week, for babies from birth until they’re walking. Our Peep-informed Learning Together sessions are all about enjoying those everyday moments with your baby… with plenty of opportunities to have fun, try things together and build confidence as a parent or carer! 🧡

Nursery rhymes are so much more than songs we remember from childhood! From building vocabulary and early literacy skills to developing confidence, imagination and mathematical understanding, singing and reciting rhymes has a valuable place in Early Years learning.
