To all our Judo parents please note, this Thursday evening, we are holding the annual joint Christmas class & celebration afterwards. BOTH classes on the mat 6-7pm. Please bring food & drinks to share & enjoy afterwards at 7-8pm, festive wear encouraged for the party! Drop us a message if there are any food allergies we need to be aware of. See you all then for fun & games! First session of the new year is on 8th January!🎄🎄🥋

Reminder for our juniors & their grown ups - Thursday next week (17th July) is the last class before summer break.

Don’t forget it’s a joint fun & games session for all 6-7pm then summer celebration 7-8pm, bring picnic/party food & drinks! 🎉🥋 Class returns on 4th September.

Reminder for parents - this evening (Thursday 15th) is grading for students. Please bring £12 cash for mon grades (sho grades free) & books with up to date licenses 🥋

For anyone not grading, you are very welcome to participate, there will be a full session running alongside the gradings 🥋

Earlier this week, we received the devastating news that Dennis Penfold has passed away peacefully aged 93, with his wife Tina & his daughter Gabbi by his side.

Dennis was the founding father of judo in Portsmouth, bringing it here after beginning his own judo career in Fareham in 1948.

He was a man whose dedication, skill, and passion for judo left an indelible mark on the sport and the many lives he touched. Dennis was not only a remarkable athlete, but a teacher, a mentor, and a true ambassador of judo in every sense of the word.

His loss will be felt deeply not only by his friends & family, but also by us, his judo family. Rest in eternal peace, Dennis.
