Communication and Language: Describing textures, actions (crack, smash), and predicting outcomes.
Of course we sang Humpty Dumpty ,which led onto when we fall over , which led to falling which led to height which led to who would ‘hurt more ‘ which let to going to the hospital which let to who had been to a hospital ….. believe me when I say this went onto a few hours literally with each child bringing the subject up even when on a completely different subject

World book day but over a few days
I won’t name and shame those who forgot 🙂
We had Beauty and the Beast
The Gruffalo
The very hungry catapillar
Woody from Toy story
Peter Rabbit
Belle
Cinderella
Spider man
The Gruffalo was brilliant for the younger children with following the EYFS
Personality Characteristics
Despite his appearance, the
Gentle & Unsuspecting: He is more puzzled than fearsome.
Gullible & Naive: He is easily tricked by the cunning mouse.
Honest: He takes things at face value and lacks slyness.
Misunderstood: He isn't malicious; he is just a very hungry beast.
All these new words which I asked the children what thought these words meant
EYFS Learning Connections
Teachers use these characteristics to meet specific learning goals:
Communication & Language: Using adjectives like "terrible," "knobbly," and "prickles" to build a rich vocabulary.
Physical Development: Stomping like a Gruffalo to develop gross motor skills or making "Gruffalo claws" with breadsticks for fine motor practice.
Expressive Arts & Design: Sculpting "terrible tusks" from clay or painting "orange eyes" on masks.
Personal, Social & Emotional Development (PSED): Discussing feelings of being "brave" or "scared" through the lens of the mouse and the monster.
This was a brilliant story for the younger children to hell with body parts , where are your teeth , eyes , ears .
