We made twig books ✨️

During the year I taught the children how to make a little book to keep all their doodles safe, using a twig, some string, a hole punch, plain paper and patterned card.

So back last year before I even knew anything about the film The Odyssey, I had planned to use a famous painting by John William Waterhouse called 'Odyssey and the Sirens' 1891
to inspire my students. I often do something about the Greek gods and goddesses because of my love for the subject.
So I retold the story of that part of Odysseus's journey and showed them my print of the famous painting.
9 classes, I retold this story to were enthralled by it, I do love story telling to children!
We spoke about our understanding of what is a siren, why they sang to the sailors and how they could use their imaginations to paint a piece of art that shows their understanding of Odysseus's part of his journey home.
As you will see their art work speaks for itself. I'm immensely proud of them all.

Thank you to all my students, what a fantastic end to another creative year.
I will be reopening the academy September 14th to allow the students to settle into their new routines before attending my classes again.
