Tomorrow is a partial solar eclipse! 🌝🌚✨
Today we’ve been learning, crafting and baking to celebrate! We made eclipse Oreo brownies and a DIY viewing box out of recycling! L is really looking forward to using it tomorrow to see the eclipse!

Early reader chapter books! 📚
L is at the stage where she loves reading independently, she’s not quite ready for full chapter books so we’ve recently been on the hunt for some younger chapter books that are a little easier to read and are not too long!
Here are a few that we’ve found that L loves! What’s even better is that they are all part of a series so she can continue practicing with lots of different stories and different adventures!
Some are nostalgic for me as I used to read them when I was her age too!

Bodies Are Cool!
This picture book took us an hour to read! Not because it’s long, but because we had to stop and look at every single person on each page! We inspected and went through it like a fine tooth comb every single body we saw!
It invoked so many conversations about different types of people, from skin colour, religion, disabilities, hair types, everything!
L pointed out characters that looked like her and people we know! She spoke about others who looked different to her, even remembering when we saw someone in with a prosthetic leg a while ago!
This book opened up so many different but important conversations and has definitely opened her eyes to all the types of people we see in day to day life, while also learning to respect each and every one of them!

William Shakespeare📖🖋️
Did you know April 23rd is Shakespeare day to celebrate the day the greatest playwrights birth and death? I remember most people moaning in school when we had to study Shakespeare but I loved it! So tonight’s bedtime story is William Shakespeare by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara - another addition to the little people, big dream book series!
On another note, who else has seen or read Hamnet by Maggie O’Farrell? It’s honestly so beautifully heart wrenching and I bawled my eyes for a good 10 minutes after the movie had finished! I’d definitely recommend if you feel like having a good cry!!
