This course provides you with the theoretical knowledge and practical ability to undertake surveys of buildings in relation to asbestos. Also, to be able to provide guidance and recommendations for appropriate management actions to minimise exposure to any identified asbestos.

Our next BOHS Endorsed Monitoring in Practice workshop will run on 12–13 August 2026 at the Stephen Burke Construction Academy near Derby!

MiP has been designed to bridge the gap between technical learning and the realities of workplace monitoring.

Using the academy’s engineering, woodworking and construction environments, delegates will work through immersive, scenario-based exercises that reflect the kinds of challenges occupational hygiene practitioners may encounter on site.

This is not simply equipment training.

It is about learning how to:

understand the working environment;
select and position equipment appropriately;
recognise factors that may affect results;
adapt when conditions change; and
explain and justify professional decisions.

The workshop is ideal for developing practitioners, those working towards CertOH, and anyone looking to refresh or consolidate their practical monitoring knowledge.

Places are limited to ensure meaningful hands-on involvement and direct support throughout the workshop. The August course is available at an introductory pilot rate.
