if you want to get strong, deadlifts are amazing! but there's still so much more to learn than what I've covered in 2 videos. as a coach of 8 years, one if the main things I've learned is that triage and a response to where you're actually at is more powerful than trying to cover everything every time.

if you want personalised advice, DM me and we'll look at building from where you are.

using the pvc pipe to guide you into the safest position remains the best tip I know, and I don't see enough coaches talking about it.

but let's also talk about keeping the deadlift efficient, standardised and safe.

balance is the biggest thing: it can feel natural to lean forward, so with manageable weights I want you play around with the position until you can *feel* what it means to be set through your whole foot.

(if you can have a coach watch you, even better)

after the reign of the Roman "gymnastes" and the near-millenia long fitness dark age, fitness and fitness coaching returned in direct response to urban populations being seen as "degenerate" and therefore weak.

the implication there is nonsense, of course. but it does suggest that the drive to move and be active is in us somewhere...

it's a confusing picture, as the advent of agriculture seemed to lead to an obesity crisis, which suggests a similar drive to inactivity also exists.

wherever you fall in this, if you want to start your fitness journey and don't know where to start, drop me a comment.

we're too busy to sift through all the lies. but that's no excuse for not starting.

fitness has always been filled with lies. Arnold Schwarzenegger admits he used to tell lies to hold his peers back. there was an entire industry dedicated to ghostwriters using famous fitness icons' names to sell absurd workout routines.

so, it's no surprise the industry still lives in the shadow of that deception. especially on social media.

that said, there are basic principles to fitness that are true:
* intensity
* consistency
* nutrition
* recovery.

if you want help from someone dedicated to getting real, lasting results, follow me and drop a comment.

if you're busy and don't have much time form strength training, you'd be on the right track deadlifting once a week.

deadlifts are a great strength building movement. they also help with:

* managing and even preventing back pain
* increasing bone density
* longevity
* grip strength
* athleticism

This is good meal prep for hot days. Mine is already in the fridge.

It makes 1.5kg. There are two ways to eat this:
3 500g servings (560 kcal, 30g protein)
5 300g servings, where you top it with salmon or tempeh or chicken (340kcal, 17g protein + whatever you add).
