Hugo. Border Terrier Handstrip with Julie, day 2:)

Heโ€™s had a cruciate operation so we had to be particularly careful so Julie adapted the groom around this making sure he was sitting down for the majority of the groom and he had a nice snooze in the crate dryer rather than being blasted. He was such a good boy and enjoyed the attention.

We have the best students ๐Ÿ˜‹! Thanks Julie, these wonโ€™t last long!!! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐ŸŽ‚๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿง

Some photos from our most recent First Aid course!
Students can bring their own dogs for the day to practice bandaging on and also complete CPR training on a dummy dog. But first we have a theory morning to learn and talk about everything to do with dogs and First Aid situations.๐Ÿพ

Special thanks to Julie Harris for another fab first aid day ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ’š

We learn how to recognise different teeth conditions and how to properly remove plaque build up using our Emmi-Pet toothbrushes!

Lovely groom on Wilson the cockerpoo by Sadie on day 17 of her 32 day Level 3 course. Sadie came in as a level 2 student, having some experience with handling, clipping and sc******ng from a previous job role. She is absolutely flying, enjoying learning how to correct her breed styling and improving by her scissor skills to shape and put on a finish to the dogs coat. Well done Sadie, we think you are doing great ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ๐Ÿฉ

Super results all round for our most recent Level 3 candidates! Well done Crystal, Ella and Kasia for working so hard and persevering with your training to get to the level that you are now. We are super proud of your stunning assessment grooms which show a good level of finish, an understanding of breed styles as well as a more than competent level of handling, showing care and compassion to the animals in your care. We will be sad to see you go but we are all very excited for your futures. Well done! ๐Ÿ’ช

Itโ€™s lovely to have our past students come back for CPD days. We had great fun styling jaxson the standard poodle in his continental trim, a step up from the usual level 3 grooms and it was lovely to see how Sam has advanced since the end of her course last year. Well done Sam a super groom and it was lovely as always to catch upโค๏ธ

Well done Feleena for completing the bulk of your course. You have worked super hard to get to where you are and it has paid off๐Ÿ‘Š. We canโ€™t wait to hear how you are getting on when you come back in for your top up day in July! See you soon๐Ÿฅฐ ๐Ÿ’ช

Due to success last weekend, we are looking at holding another cat workshop at the beginning of August. We are just putting the feelers out to see how many people are interested. 12 people required. Please let us know ๐Ÿ˜บ

We had a great workshop on Sunday, teaching cat grooming to new students alongside Julie Harris.

It was a great day, and all of our lovely cats were brilliant! โค๏ธ ๐Ÿ˜ป

Lovely independently groomed clip and scissor by kasia on day 17 of her styling training. Kasia has worked hard to master her scissor technique and is building more and more confidence in shaping legs. Learning to scissor in shape can be daunting to start with but with lots of practising and by learning our tried and tested routines students learn to enjoy the process using this skill to enhance the look of the dog.

Lovely to have Leah, an old students of ours come back in for some top up training. Leah has had quite a few hand-strips book in at her own salon in Southampton but never a wire fox terrier, so she was very keen to get her hands on hairy Theo! Drawing on the skills she has already developed she completed the groom in good time and achieved a super finish, picking up a few pointers along the way. Further training is an important part of a groomers learning journey so well done Leah for putting in the extra time to be the best groomer you can be ๐Ÿ‘Š.

Another lovely 5๐ŸŒŸreview this time from Lou from Hoys hounds in Havant. Lou did her training with us last year and passed her level 3 with flying colours. Thank you Lou, you were a pleasure to teach and itโ€™s been lovely to see how successful your business has become in such a short space of time, although we had no doubt it would be a success ๐Ÿ‘ŠThank you so much for the chocolates (all gone!) and personalised candle - which smells amazing by the way!

Swipe right โžก๏ธ to see Baileys amazing transformation by Feleena on day 16 of her styling training! Bailey hadnโ€™t been groomed in over a year so putting back in the correct shape was hard. But Feleena took it all in her stride and Bailey went home looking like a new dog! ๐Ÿพโœ‚๏ธ๐Ÿคฉ

Well done Ella! Superb groom on Molly the English setter. Independently groomed on day 21 of her styling training so a perfect addition to your portfolio of work. Ella has worked hard work to get this far and is well on her way to being a fully qualified level 3 groomer ๐Ÿ‘Š

Lots of big dogs and wool coated breeds for Georgia at the start of her styling training. Understanding and remembering the correct and safe angles to use the scissors in is one the hardest things to remember as a new groomer. Georgia is now well on her way to getting the hang of it having lots of practise with these three lovely dog and their long legs! Clipping the poodle face and feet can also be daunting for a new groomer but practise makes permanent as they say and she will be doing a good few more over the rest of her course. Well done Georgia, keep up the good work!๐Ÿ‘Š

We had a great day of learning yesterday at the canine first aid course, included on all our courses. A morning of theory with an afternoon of practical instruction allows our students to feel fully informed after the day. Not only do we practise resuscitation on the dummy dog but also bandaging techniques for the ear, paws and tail on live ones! Thanks again Julie for another wonderfully fun and informative day.

A few before and after pics of the super dogs Ella has been working on during her course. Ella is working hard to become trained as a groomer so that she can work along side her sister at a salon in Wickham. She is now on day 20 of her styling training and is working independently, starting to complete trims on her own. You go girl!๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿพโœ‚๏ธ

Two lovely grooms by Hannah this week as we near the end of this years training before we break for Christmas. Looking back over the year is always a pleasure for us as we remind ourselves of the students we have taught who are now up and running thriving in their own salons

Itโ€™s always hard saying goodbye to a student but we are always so proud of how far they have come and are excited for their future. This week it was Mels turn to fly the nest. But what an exciting career she has ahead of her, already teaming up with another student at a shop in Gosport. Well done mel, you have worked hard to get the best out of the course and itโ€™s paid off.

Itโ€™s not only our students who invest in their training, but we do too๐Ÿ˜„. Ensuring we continually develop our own skills is important to us and teacher training helps us keep up to date with any changes in qualification guidelines and new training methods. We also get a chance to have a good chin wag with fellow groomers from across the country who have also taken to teaching as a vocation. Today we drove to Groomers Ltd offices in Newbury to join a participation group event guided by two very knowledgeable tutors Julie Harris and Cath Clarke. We had a great day sharing our experiences and learning from one and other and have left feeling full of inspiration and motivation. Thanks goes to both of these lovely ladies who have given up their time purely to help support us in our jobs.

Wow what a super transformation for Indy the schnauzer who has only just come to the UK from New Zealand! He was a little star and took most of the groom in his stride. He was a little sensitive on his ears so Kayla took it nice and slowly and managed to independently transform this little guy back into the lovely smart little schnauzer that he is! Well done Kayla what a super way to end your last days training! You have gone from strength to strength with your grooming since you have been with us and we are immensely proud of what you have achieved. We will miss you, but know you have a super and exciting career ahead of you. WELL DONE ๐Ÿ’ช

Big well done to Mel and Kayla who both passed assessments on these lovely doodles Max and Wilson. Both students clipped the body and scissored in shape to the legs achieving not only a balanced groom but also a finish to the coat which is hard to achieve so early on in their careers. Well done to both for working so hard and persevering with their scissor technique. ๐Ÿ’ช

No rest for the students this Sunday. It was time to learn all about Canine First Aid and it was lovely to have some local groomers and dog walkers take part again too. With the morning dedicated to theory, the afternoon was spent practising bandaging, measuring pulse rates, resuscitation and listening for heart beats with a stethoscope. It really is essential for us to know that our students will leave with the confidence to deal with any emergency situation in a timely and professional manner and we are pleased to say everyone passed both their written and practical assessment with full marks๐Ÿ…โœ๏ธ. Another great day of learning thanks to

Great week had by all here in the training room with lots of new achievements made. Mel on day 24 has completed 4 breed standard trims on her own in the past two days to include a lovely little toy poodle called charlie๐Ÿฉ. Hannah has learnt how to scissor silk coats and started little sections on head shaping with the sweet Smartie โœ‚๏ธand Susie day 8 groomed hope all on her own getting out quite a lot of hair for a short coated dog using a variety of deshedding tools๐Ÿพ. Well done everyone, smashing it this week ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜

It is always lovely to see how well our students are getting on so soon out of training and we keep in touch with each and every one of them to feedback on their grooms until they complete their qualification. Steph completed the bulk of her training a few weeks ago and is already booked up and being raved about ! Well done Steph, we have no doubt your business will go from strength to strength

โ€œIf its worth doing, then do it properly at The Training Room at Dandiniโ€™sโ€

At The Training Room at Dandiniโ€™s our courses are well-structured, professional and quality assured.

On any of our "Groom for a Living" courses the student will groom at least two dogs a day and gain a minimum of 240 hours (30 day course) or 320 hours (40 day course) of guided learning within the training room and salon, grooming dogs. A number of home study hours are required in addition to this. This allows a student trained at Dandini's to be knowledgeable, competent and ready for the work place before they leave.

Dog grooming is a skill that will take time to develop and we believe that the foundations of this skill need to be established correctly and thoroughly at the beginning of a students career and this takes time.

This is why at Dandini's we only offer 30 or 40 day courses and each days training is a full 8 hours.
