Learning all about animals 🐣🐾🐘

Over the past few weeks, the babies have been exploring a variety of animals, from birds to pets. They have enjoyed animal-themed activities including printing, garden animal hunts, themed tuff trays, books, songs, and learning signs such as "dog", "pig", and "fly".

The children have also loved sharing photos of their own pets, with everyone taking part and enjoying the topic.🐈

Alongside this, the babies have been enjoying daily bucket time sessions, designed to develop concentration and communication skills. These sessions have supported significant progress in speech and language development, with all the children remaining engaged throughout.

Update for parents 🔽

Since 1st September 2026, updates to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework have come into effect across England. The revised framework introduces a number of important changes, with a particular focus on children’s safety, wellbeing and healthy development.

At YMCA Fairthorne Group Nurseries, we are pleased to confirm that our existing practices already align with these updated requirements. The changes reinforce approaches that have long been part of our commitment to providing safe, nurturing and high-quality early years education and care.

To find out more about the changes, see what we are doing, and ways to implement these changes at home, read our blog - https://ymca-nurseries.org/early-years-foundation-stage-changes-september-2026-supporting-childrens-safety-sleep-and-healthy-development/
