As another training year comes to an end, we are incredibly proud to celebrate 40 trainees who have successfully qualified with us and are now ready to begin their teaching careers.
It has been a busy, rewarding year, filled with hard work, growth and plenty of memorable moments. Thank you to our trainees, mentors, partnership schools and everyone who has supported them along the way.
For now, we hope everyone enjoys a well-earned and restful summer…
Unless, of course, you are still thinking about training to teach this September! We still have a small number of places available and capacity to interview over the summer.
Your teaching journey could start sooner than you think.

Today marks the last day with our current cohort of trainees and it has been a pleasure to work with every one of these new teachers.
We always say it's a privilege to be able to train the next generation of teachers and we can't wait to hear how everyone gets on as they move into their new roles in September.
Good luck everyone and remember to keep in touch! 🎓🤩

Names matter.
They carry familiarity, consistency and trust, and we know that Portsmouth SCITT is a name many people recognise and value.
But our programme has grown. Our partnerships have developed. Our reach now extends beyond Portsmouth, and our offer is continuing to evolve.
That is why we are considering whether the time has come for a new name. One that better reflects who we are, where we work and the future of our teacher training partnership.
We would love to hear your views.
Please complete our short survey by Friday 19 June.

Parents and carers, we’d love to hear from you.
When your child walks into the classroom each morning, what do they most need from their teacher?
A kind smile?
Someone who listens?
Patience?
A sense of fun?
Clear explanations?
Someone who believes in them?
Tell us in a few words or a short sentence below.
With Thank a Teacher Day coming up on 17th June, this is also a lovely moment to celebrate the teachers who have made a difference to your child. You can send a free thank you message here:
https://thankateacher.co.uk/parents/
We’ll be using your responses to celebrate the everyday qualities that make great teachers so special.

Applications are still open for September 2026!
We’ve had another flurry of applications over the half-term break, and it’s been brilliant to see so many people taking that first step towards a career in teaching.
There is still time to apply for our primary and secondary courses, so if you’ve been thinking about training to teach, now is a great time to find out more.
We’re also sending a huge good luck to our current trainees as they head into their final half term. This is the point where all of the learning, practice and growing confidence really starts to come together. The magic really does happen now!
We can’t wait to see everything they achieve over the coming weeks.

Ever wondered what centre-based training looks like for a primary trainee teacher?
One of our Portsmouth SCITT primary trainees has shared a little snapshot of her week in the centre, and it’s a brilliant reminder of just how varied teacher training can be.
From phonics, book moderation and science practicals, to adaptive teaching, professional conversations, pupil progress and a well-earned lunch at the Lido, no two days are quite the same.
Our centre-based weeks give trainees the time and space to build knowledge, practise key skills, reflect with expert colleagues and prepare for life back in the classroom.

For Mental Health Awareness Week, our trainees have been reflecting on the little things that help them stay well during a busy year of teacher training.
Wellbeing is not a one-off event, and it is not always about grand gestures. Sometimes it is the small, steady things that help make tougher moments feel a little lighter.
Here are some of the simple things our trainees do to look after themselves, recharge and keep going. We hope they inspire you to pause, breathe, and make time for your own little moments of wellbeing too.
