As you saw from our video on Monday, our bid has been submitted.

But before we look ahead to what comes next, we want to take a moment to say thank you.

Thank you to everyone who shared their ideas.

Everyone who filled in a survey.

Everyone who came along to an event.

Everyone who created, performed, volunteered, supported, encouraged and got involved.

And thank you to the thousands of people across Portsmouth who have backed this bid and helped tell the story of our incredible city.

This bid belongs to Portsmouth.

It belongs to our communities, our artists, our businesses, our young people, our volunteers, our organisations and every single person who believes there is something special about this place we call home.

We’ve shown that Portsmouth has a story worth telling.

Now it’s time to put that story on the national stage.

The shortlist will be announced in the autumn, and we’ll be there every step of the way.

Whatever happens next, we’re incredibly proud of what We Are Pompey 2029 has achieved together so far.

But we believe this is only the beginning.
