Technically, they’re part of the team.

This week we’re shining a light on Robin Lind, Year 3 BA Architecture student and winner of the Graduate Show 2026 poster design competition.

Robin’s concept uses motion blur photography to represent the different elements of the faculty and the student journey — capturing movement, process, and transformation.

With a full day of shooting and support from David Clark, Billie Cawte, Dan McCabe, Mike Harkins, alongside our 3D Workshop and Sewing Studio teams, Robin developed and brought the final posters to life.

A brilliant example of creativity, collaboration and making in action 👏

The studios are a little quieter than usual… we’re already missing the students.

The University is closed for the bank holiday (Good Friday & Easter Monday), but the Library remains open 📚

Wishing everyone a restful break — see you back in the light-filled studios soon.

💡 Did you know?

Before computer simulations, architects used heliodons to test how light interacts with their designs.

It’s a method we still use today — giving students a hands-on way to explore light, shadow and atmosphere in real time.

We’re lucky to have one here at UoP ☀️

Come and try it out yourself at our next open day on 22nd April!

Snapshots of work in action from our studios and workshops last week.

Ideas developing, models taking shape, and plenty of making in progress.

🎓 Preparing for Practice

We’re rounding up this week with our final batch of mock interview sessions for our third year Architecture and Interior Architecture & Design students.

Students have had the opportunity to speak directly with discipline-specific practitioners, discussing CVs and creative portfolios, and gaining valuable experience ahead of entering professional practice.

12 architecture and interior design practices from London and across the region have generously given their time to engage with our students over two and a half days.

The feedback has been incredibly positive, with students describing the experience as both exhilarating and a valuable insight into the world of practice.

Do you wish you had this opportunity at university? 👀

🎓 Student Spotlight

This week we’re featuring Aarav Paul, a third-year student studying BA Architecture.

His project explores a refugee hub, responding to the journey from broken environments to spaces of safety and peace. The model contrasts a fragmented context with a softer architectural form, reflecting this transition, with subtle inspiration drawn from its proximity to Portsmouth Harbour.

We love how this project communicates a powerful narrative through form and material.
