🄢 Tapping rhythm sticks together is a great way for children to see, hear and feel the beat.

🄢 We can use sticks for helping our children to develop their rhythmic awareness, which is a key communication, language and literacy skill.

🄢 Handling rhythm sticks helps to develop our children's fine motor skills, as they grasp and manipulate the sticks to make a sound.

🄢 Tapping a strong, steady beat on the sticks encourages children to focus on patterns and sequences, hear stressed syllables in words of songs or rhymes, develop their listening skills, and develop their hand-eye coordination.

Remember.......... This is more than just a pair of wooden spoons from the kitchen, more than just some cardboard tubes, more than just twigs from the garden.

Tap the beat..... with Boogie Mites!

Does your child have trouble focusing on a task? Or perhaps some words are difficult for them to speak or understand?

As mothers and passionate teachers we’ve been there! From experience, we’ve found out how music brings our family together to engage in a fun activity. Dr Anita Collins, an award-winning educator, researcher and author in the field of brain development and music learning, also argues that early years music making facilitates brain development. 🧠

Since our Boogie Mites songs are catchy and interactive, it is easy for children to follow along. They will have fun and start to expand their attention span!

Have you sung our "Bubble" song yet, based on the works of children's author Michael Rosen? Or maybe encouraged your child to have a go at mimicking and following along to our "Pinky the Pig" phonics-focused fun song, presented by professional storyteller Rohini Vij from Nutspace! šŸŽ¶

You can access these for FREE by becoming a Boogie Mites Ambassador, and testing our content for our BRAND NEW APP! But you'll need to be QUICK! Content is only free for six more weeks, then we launch the full app!

Music experiences in childhood can accelerate brain development, particularly in the areas of language acquisition and reading skills.

Exposing children to music during early development helps them learn the sounds and meanings of words. Dr Anita Collins, from the University of Canberra, found out that music learning enhances control and maintains a child's attention for longer.

Academic achievement isn't the only benefit of music education; music ignites all areas of a child's development and skills for school readiness, including intellectual, social-emotional, motor, language, and overall literacy. It helps the body and mind work together.

So what better way to put all of this into practise that by using the new Boogie Mites app at home with your child? With Fun Phonics presented by professional storyteller Rohini Vij from NutSpace , Topical Tunes, and Musical Poems written in collaboration with world-renowned children's author Michael Rosen , our app is sure to bring happy vibes, dancing feet and brilliant brains into every home.

It's THINKING THURSDAY! 🧠

Music stimulates the brain in a way that no other activity is seen to do. It's long been regarded as "the musician's advantage", a secret held by neuroscientists. But is it enough to simply listen to music every day? In short, no. We have to ACTIVELY engage, whether it's through singing the lyrics, creating or copying actions or movements, following a score, or playing an instrument - even in a simple way, such as shaking a shaker or tapping our rhythm sticks to the beat.

When we ACTIVELY engage with music, we are stimulating all areas of the brain, and releasing the neurotransmitter chemicals which enhance our mood, give us a sense of reward and motivate us.
The skills that we learn through active music-making have a positive effect on our cognitive ability and, therefore, can improve skills in other academic areas.

Actively engaging with music equips us with transferrable skills.

*With thanks to Bigger Better Brains for this wonderful Oliver Sacks, M.D. quote*

Music is a great way for people to bond, express themselves, and at times, even keep you company. Not only does it help bring people together, it can also facilitate brain development in growing children.

Neuroscience research has shown evidence of stronger brain infrastructure within children who take music lessons at a young age. Simple music making at a young age has shown to act as a neural link between language development and communication, and ensure this link doesn't deteriorate as children grow up.
This link can also facilitate higher brain functions, which in turn, leads to higher absorptive capacity.

Music and language have overlapping neural networks, meaning the brain processes one as if it was the other. This is evident through ā€˜Baby talk’ or ā€˜Parentese’ language, the high pitch, sing-songy voice we use, where we infuse our language with music. Babies are able to understand this ā€˜language’ as their sound processing nerves are the most developed during the early stages of childhood.

Boogie Mites have taken advantage of this research, and have designed workshops, webinars and parent packs to help support brain development at an age where children’s neural infrastructure is at its most malleable.

Now, we have developed a web app for use at home, and we're looking for parents to trial the content for FREE, until it launches fully in May! Content includes Fun Phonics presented by professional storyteller Vij from NutSpace, Topical Tunes, and Musical Poems written in collaboration with world-renowned children's author Michael Rosen.

šŸ§‚ Shakers are great for helping our children to play, hear and feel a strong, steady beat.

šŸ§‚ We can use shakers for helping our children to develop their rhythmic awareness, which is a key communication, language and literacy skill.

šŸ§‚ Shakers are an effective way for children to experience keeping the beat in a kinaesthetic way. They can feel the motion of the contents, hear the stead beat as they shake, and - if you're using a clear container - see the contents move in time to the beat as they shake along.

šŸ§‚ Keeping the beat encourages children to focus on patterns and sequences, hear stressed syllables in words of songs or rhymes, develop their listening skills, develop coordination and motor skills, increase fluidity of movement and body control, and develop their hand-eye coordination.

Remember.......... This is more than just a bottle, more than just a yogurt pot, more than just a plastic soup container.

Shake the beat..... with Boogie Mites!
