What a privilege it was to be in a room full of people that work so tirelessly for the young people they believe in.

This photo means more to me than I could probably ever put into words.

Five years into the FunKidz journey, I reached a point where I simply couldn’t teach another child myself. FunKidz had grown as far as one person could physically take it, and that was when Megan Jansen joined me.

She was the very first teacher to come on this journey with me.

She heard my vision. She believed in what I was trying to create. And for the past five years, she has championed the growth of FunKidz every single step of the way.

She has seen the highs, the challenges, the crazy ideas, the hard days and all the moments in between. She has watched FunKidz grow from something I started on my own into the community it is today, and she has been such a huge part of that growth.

So to stand beside her at the UK Dance Awards, waiting to hear the result of the Community Impact Award, and then to hear WE HAD WON together… that moment will stay with me forever.

Because this wasn't just my win.

It was a win for every person who has believed in FunKidz, every teacher who has helped it grow, every school that has welcomed us, every family who has trusted us and every child who has walked through our doors.

But having Megan beside me made it even more special.

She believed in the vision when it was still just a vision.

Five years later, she was standing beside me when we won an award celebrating the impact that vision has created.

Megan, thank you for believing in me, for believing in FunKidz and for championing this journey with me for the last five years.

I’m so incredibly grateful that I got to share that moment with you.

From the very first teacher to one of the people standing beside me when we won.

What a journey. What a moment. And what a person to have beside me.

WE WON!

I genuinely still can’t believe I’m writing those words.

FunKidz Dance has been named WINNER of the Community Impact Award at the UK Dance Awards 2026.

34 incredible organisations and schools were shortlisted for this award, and somehow, our little FunKidz family came out on top.

And honestly… I don’t think there could be a more perfect award for FunKidz.

Because this has never just been about dance.

It’s about the child who walked into their first FunKidz class too shy to join in, and now runs through the door full of confidence.

It’s about the children who have found a place where they feel included, accepted and completely themselves.

It’s about the parents who tell us their child is happier, more confident and coming out of their shell because of FunKidz.

It’s about every school that has opened its doors to us, every teacher who gives their time and heart to our children, and every parent who has trusted us with something so incredibly precious..

We won because of that IMPACT.

Every single child. Every school. Every FunKidz teacher. Every parent who has supported us.

That is what this trophy represents.

This is what happens when we DANCE FOR SOMETHING MORE.

I am so unbelievably proud of what we have built together. Proud of our children. Proud of our staff team. Proud of every school that has welcomed us.

And, if I’m completely honest, I’m incredibly proud of myself too.

Because there have been so many moments over the years where I’ve questioned whether I was getting it right, whether we were doing enough, whether this little idea I had could really make a difference.

Sitting there knowing that 34 incredible organisations had been shortlisted, and hearing FUNKIDZ DANCE announced as the winner…

I’ll never forget it.

And whilst tomorrow might see us stepping onto that red carpet, it isn’t just about us.

It’s about every single child who has danced with FunKidz.
Every parent who has supported us.
Every teacher and school who has welcomed us.
And every member of the FunKidz team who gives their time, energy and heart to making our classes what they are.

It’s about the children who have found confidence, friendship, belonging and a place where they can simply be themselves.

This recognition represents all of you. 🥹

So tomorrow, we’ll get dressed up, walk that red carpet and celebrate — but we’ll be carrying our entire FunKidz family with us.

And just like that… a full-circle moment.

Emily was one of my very first ever FunKidz students when I started this little company all those years ago.

I watched her grow up, find her confidence, and become the amazing young person she is today… and now she’s standing in a FunKidz class, putting on her very own FunKidz staff T-shirt and joining us as a student teacher.

And watching one of our students become part of the team is honestly something I never imagined when I started FunKidz.

There’s something so special about knowing that the confidence, happiness and memories we create in these classes can stay with children long after they leave them.

As a company, we want to nurture young people who have a real interest in dance and teaching, giving them the opportunity to learn, grow and develop into fantastic teachers themselves.

Emily is the perfect example of why that matters. She’s gone from being one of our little dancers to now helping create those same experiences for the next generation.

Welcome to the team, Emily. I’m so incredibly proud of you.

I’ve just calculated something and honestly… I’m a little bit emotional.

436 CHILDREN.

Every single week, 436 primary school children walk into a FunKidz class.

436 children dancing.
436 children laughing.
436 children making friends.
436 children being silly.
436 children building confidence.
436 children who get an hour each week where they can just be themselves.

And when I think back to where FunKidz started, I honestly can’t quite believe it.

What started as an idea to give children an affordable, fun and inclusive place to dance has grown into something SO much bigger than I ever imagined.

We don’t care who can dance the best.
We don’t care what the are wearing.
We don’t care if they get the steps wrong.
We don’t care if they’re the loudest, quietest, most confident or most nervous child in the room.

We just want every child to feel like they belong.

And knowing that 436 children are experiencing that every single week makes me ridiculously proud.

Behind that number are 436 little stories, 436 personalities, 436 reasons for joining us and 436 children who make every single week worth it.

To my incredible FunKidz team — I am SO proud of you.

To the schools who trust us.
To the parents who trust us.
And to every single child who walks through our doors…

thank you.

Because FunKidz was never just about teaching children to dance.

It was always about giving them somewhere to feel confident, included, happy and free.

And somehow, we’re now doing that for 436 children every single week.

I honestly couldn’t be prouder.

436 children. One FunKidz family. And we’re only just getting started.. ✨

Keeping our little dancers safe.

Today some of our FunKidz Dance teachers were refreshing their Paediatric First Aid training — making sure our team feel confident and prepared to deal with anything that may happen during our clubs.

Working with children means safety always comes first, and keeping our first-aid knowledge up to date is such an important part of what we do.

We may be there to dance, have fun, build confidence and make memories… but being ready to care for our children when they need us matters just as much.

Proud of our team for giving up their time today to keep learning and refreshing these really important skills. 👏🏼

This one means more than I can put into words.

Our beautiful Abby has been nominated for the Sarcoma UK Shining Star Awards 2026 – Gaz Emmerson Fundraiser of the Year ⭐️

Abby was part of our FunKidz family, our teaching team and, most importantly, our friend. She was one of those people who left a little piece of herself everywhere she went. ❤️

While living with incurable osteosarcoma, Abby continued to do what she loved — dance, perform, create and bring people together — using her talents to raise awareness and nearly £10,000 for Sarcoma UK through Raise the Curtain.

She never stopped thinking about others. Never stopped creating. Never stopped making a difference. 🦋

And although Abby is no longer here with us, her legacy absolutely is.

Every time our children dance to raise money for charity, every butterfly we see, every fundraiser we do in her name… Abby is still making a difference. 💙
