What started as a collaboration between Diabetes Research & Wellness Foundation DRWF Diabetes and FunKidz Dance has grown into something truly extraordinary. 🥹❤️

Together, we haven’t just created a fundraising campaign — we’ve built a movement that has reached tens of thousands of children, giving them the opportunity to dance, learn, fundraise and become powerful ambassadors for diabetes awareness.

And just look at the journey…

Year 1 — 5 schools
Year 2 — 10 schools
Year 3 — 15 schools
Year 4 — 17 schools
Year 5 — 86 SCHOOLS!

From 5 schools in our first year to an incredible 86 schools in Year 5 — that growth is phenomenal.

And then there’s the fundraising…

Dance for Diabetes raised a record-breaking £77,919 in 2026 and has now raised an astonishing £150,000 across five years. 😲

What started as an idea to combine the joy of dance with life-saving education has grown into something truly incredible.

For the fifth consecutive year, FunKidz has proudly partnered with the Diabetes Research & Wellness Foundation to deliver Dance for Diabetes in primary schools across the UK—and this year has been our biggest yet.

Together we reached:
✨ 86 schools
✨ Over 20,000 children
✨ A phenomenal £77,919.36 raised

But this has always been about so much more than fundraising.

Through every dance, every lesson and every conversation, thousands of children have learned about all forms of diabetes, recognising the signs and symptoms, understanding the importance of early diagnosis, and discovering how they can make a difference in someone else’s life.

At FunKidz, we believe dance has the power to educate, inspire and bring communities together. Seeing so many children dancing with purpose while helping others has been nothing short of amazing.

To every school that welcomed us, every teacher who supported us, every family who donated, and every child who danced their heart out—thank you. You are the reason this campaign continues to grow year after year.

🕺DANCE FOR DIABETES 2026 HAS RAISED A RECORD-BREAKING £77,919.36!

What an incredible year it has been!
🏫 86 schools.
👟 More than 20,000 pupils participating.
🎶 Five weeks of dancing, learning, and fundraising.
💙 Thousands of children and families learning about all forms of diabetes, including the vital signs and symptoms in children and adults.

For the fifth consecutive year, we partnered with the brilliant FunKidz Dance to collectively bring ‘Dance for Diabetes’ into primary schools across the UK, combining movement, education and fundraising to create real, lasting impact.

Thanks to our unique 60/40 fundraising promise, more than £30,000 will now be returned directly to participating schools for them to reinvest in their pupils and school communities.

Our beautiful talented Abby Joy 💜🦋

"When I think of Abby, I don’t just think of her bravery. I think of the fearless, confident little girl I first met all those years ago." ❤️

It is with broken hearts that we share the news that our beautiful teacher and friend Abby Joy passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, with her family by her side.

There are some people who leave a mark on your life without ever trying. Abby was one of those people.

She loved to dance. She loved to perform. But more than anything, she loved helping children find the confidence to do the same. She encouraged them to be brave, to step onto the stage with a smile, and to believe they could do things they never thought possible.

Every child adored Abby. She was gentle, patient, and always made time for every single one of them. She remembered the little things, celebrated every achievement, and made each child feel seen and valued. She didn’t just teach dance. She helped children believe in themselves.

A few months ago, Megan and I had the privilege of watching Abby perform in her own concert. Even though her health had tried so hard to stop her, she refused to let it take away what she loved most. She stood on that stage, shared her story with such honesty, and reminded everyone in the room why dance meant so much to her. That evening she raised more than £7,000 for Sarcoma UK, and I don’t think I have ever been prouder or more in awe of someone’s courage and determination.

The stage was Abby’s happy place. We promise to keep sharing the message she lived every day: that if something matters to you, don’t let anyone tell you it can’t be done.

Not long ago, Abby sent me a message that I will treasure forever:

“You’ve created such a wonderful company and I’m so grateful to have met you and thankful for all the kindness, compassion and support you’ve shown me.”

If only I could tell you one more time what an incredible person you are. How proud we all were of you. How many lives you changed without ever asking for recognition. Our children are more confident because of you. They are kinder because of you. They are braver because they had you standing beside them.

Every class, every rehearsal, and every performance will carry a little piece of you. We will think of you whenever our children step onto a stage with excitement instead of fear, because you taught them that performing should always be filled with joy.

You saw something special in every child, just as we all saw something truly special in you. Your kindness, your warmth, your strength, and your smile will never be forgotten.

Until we meet again, our butterfly. 💜🦋

Though you were with us for far too short a time, you left behind something that will last forever: hope, courage, and the memory of someone who made the world a little brighter simply by being in it.
