Fiesta fiesta!

We made maracas and learnt some flamenco dancing (the serious faces were due to concentration!) and then we played some outdoor games and visited the "secret playground". Today at lunch, we were happy to see lots of children munching on their lemon mantecados biscuits that we made yesterday!

This afternoon was our fiesta! Lots of laughs with plenty of dancing and party games. We especially enjoyed "Buzzy Bees" where the children got very creative in groups making themselves into statues beginning with different letters of the alphabet. Our favourite creations were for the letters N, T and Y - top marks for "Nana's", "Noah's Ark", "TNT" and "Yogurts". Maybe you can guess in the photos which these are?!

A final Spanish treasure hunt looking for more precious gems, then a different variant of "caliente, frio" and our camp favourite - the line jumping game - which in Spanish is "mar y tierra".

It has been a truly wonderful week - huge thanks to all of the children for making the camp super special. It's been lovely to see you all having so much fun together, making new friends, and being reunited with friends from previous camps.

Spanish food day! We learnt about Spanish cuisine and then practised more of our language skills. Some of the children had brought back their Spanish cupcakes from yesterday to eat for their lunch.

We made the most of the sunshine before the rain storm, playing on our Spanish galleon and with some outdoor games.

Then an action-packed afternoon making Spanish mantecados. The scent of lemon zest filled the air and we listened to Spanish acoustic music while we made our biscuits.

We ended with some games and dancing to Macarena! As well as the camp favourite "pink fluffy unicorns".

Today was Spanish games day! We started with a quiz about Spanish sports and games and then we coloured our own Parchis boards (similar to Ludo) and played the game in pairs. The children brought their Parchis board home and game instructions will be in their passports at the end of the week (scan the Spain code).

After lots of playing in the sunshine, we designed plates with Spanish themes and decorated red and yellow cupcakes. Que rico!

Our main theme today was Spanish Festivals! We enjoyed our own version of La Tomatina throwing "tomatoes" back and forth in the playground - the winning team had the most tomatoes in the other team's zone when the time was up.

We learnt some Spanish greetings, and played some games using Spanish numbers and colours. Everyone loved making their own festival pinatas filled with sweets - the children put a lot of concentration and care into the colourful trimmings - hope they enjoy breaking into the sweets!

Last but not least - we imagined ourselves as Spanish treasure hunters searching for rubies (Frio! Caliente!) and posed as fierce pirates on the playground ship.

(And lots of origami in the wrap around hours!)

Hola! We have had a lovely first day at our Spain camp. We learnt about Spanish weaving and then had a go at some weaving ourselves. It turned out to be quite tricky (!) but everyone persevered and felt very proud of their finished decorations. Muy bien!!

After looking at the beautiful architecture and windows of the Sagrada Familia, the children designed and made their own stained glass windows to "paint with sunshine" like Antoni Gaudi.

The sun is shining! And we are thinking of summer!

We can confirm our Summer Holiday Camp will be Monday 28th July to Friday 1st August at New Horizons Primary School.

Our country of the week will be Spain! Spanish themed arts, crafts, cookery, games and sports as well as language and our Globetrotter learning zones.
