ANNOUNCING: The 'BOYS PERFORM INITIATIVE'
From September 2026, Performers Theatre Company is proud to launch the 'Boys Perform Initiative' (BPI) - a new scheme designed to encourage more boys to experience the life-changing benefits of performing arts.
Despite the confidence, creativity, resilience and teamwork that theatre develops, boys remain significantly underrepresented in performing arts training due to outdated stereotypes and social stigma.
We want to help change that.
The mission is simple:
⭐ Challenge stereotypes
⭐ Increase male participation in the arts
⭐ Create opportunities for boys to thrive through performance
As part of this initiative, all new male students joining from September 2026 will receive their first month of classes completely free.
Whether it's musical theatre, singing or acting, we believe every young person should feel confident pursuing their passion without fear of judgement.
At Performers Theatre Company, we're committed to creating an environment where boys can build confidence, develop new skills, form lasting friendships and discover their potential both on and off the stage.
Join us as we work to break down barriers and prove that the stage is for everyone.

What an incredible time we had at our Stranger Things workshop today!
Facilitated by the brilliant Ed Chase, currently directing Little Shop of Horrors, our talented group ventured deep into the Upside Down to develop and refine their acting skills.
Throughout the workshop, participants explored the key differences between acting for the stage and acting for the camera, practised reacting to things that weren’t physically there, and investigated a wide spectrum of emotions - from the biggest, boldest expressions to the most subtle and nuanced moments. They also worked on scenes inspired by the Stranger Things series itself, bringing its iconic characters and dramatic situations to life.
The creativity, focus and enthusiasm shown throughout the day were fantastic to see and everyone embraced the challenges with confidence and imagination.
A huge well done to all who took part - you should be incredibly proud of what you achieved! 👹✨

What a special evening at the inaugural Spotlight Awards ✨
While we didn't take home the award this time, simply being nominated for Best Large Youth Production for our production of Peter Pan Jr was a huge honour and recognition of the incredible work of our young performers, creative team and everyone involved.
It was wonderful to spend the evening celebrating the joy, creativity and power of theatre alongside so many fantastic organisations, companies and individuals from across our local community. The talent on display was truly inspiring and it was a reminder of just how vibrant and supportive our theatre scene is.
A huge congratulations to Stage One Youth Theatre on their well-deserved win and congratulations to all of the award winners and nominees. To be recognised alongside such outstanding theatre companies and youth theatre organisations was a privilege in itself and a testament to the exceptional talent we have across our region.
We are incredibly proud of what our cast and team achieved with Peter Pan Jr and grateful to have been part of such a memorable occasion.
Here's to continuing to create opportunities, nurture talent, and share the magic of theatre with audiences for many years to come! 💙

Coming to Performers Theatre Company in 2027... The Young Producers Initiative! Create. Produce. Lead. 💡🖊️
The Young Producers Initiative will be an exclusive, application-only programme for ambitious young theatre-makers aged 13-21.
Designed for students ready to take theatre beyond performance, this unique initiative gives participants the opportunity to develop, produce and stage a fully realised theatrical production with the support of industry mentors and a dedicated production budget.
Working as a professional-style producing company, students collaborate across all aspects of theatre-making - from concept development and directing to marketing, budgeting, rehearsal management and performance.
Participants may choose to:
-create and stage original work
-produce a licensed musical or play
-develop innovative performance concepts
-lead creative and production teams
The programme is built for young creatives who are passionate about storytelling, collaboration, leadership and creating bold theatrical experiences.
Throughout the process, students gain invaluable real-world experience in:
-producing and project management
-creative leadership
-directing and rehearsal processes
-casting and company management
-marketing and audience engagement
-budgeting and scheduling
-technical theatre and production planning
The Young Producers Initiative offers a rare opportunity for emerging artists to experience what it truly takes to bring a production from idea to opening night.
Places are limited and offered through application only.
We are thrilled to be introducing this next year! ✨

These little superstars performed The True Story of the Three Little Pigs today for their very proud families and teachers! 🐷🐺
With only six hours of teaching time, Erin, our Acting teacher, provided very little support, giving the students full control over creating and developing their piece.
They did a FANTASTIC job, and everyone is incredibly proud! Well done Acting Juniors ✨
