Thank a school superhero

Teach Portsmouth and Portsmouth News want to know who has supported your family.

Portsmouth's school superheroes deserve our praise for going above and beyond for children and young people.

Share your words of thanks and we'll pass this onto your school as part of a special printed document at the end of the year.

You could:
* Say thank you to a teaching assistant who supports your child on a 121 basis
* Praise a school teacher who has helped your child overcome challenges
* Applaud a head teacher for providing strong leadership in your community

We would encourage you to choose staff who still work at the school to ensure your messages can reach them at the end of the school year.

To share your message, complete the form on the website link below. It's as simple as that.

The deadline for all messages is Wednesday 14 February 2024.

Dear Parents/Carers,
As I am sure, you are already aware; the Met office has issued yellow and amber alerts for Storm Ciaran, with severe winds and torrential rain forecast from tonight, throughout tomorrow.
We have just received notification from Portsmouth City Council that they have declared this a major incident and recommend careful consideration of whether schools can remain open due to the potential for trees to blow over as many are still in leaf and the ground will be soft due to heavy rainfall. We also have a lot of scaffolding still up around the school, which could potentially create additional risk. Portsmouth City Council have also asked all school crossing patrol personnel to not attend work tomorrow.
Therefore, Southsea Infant School will be closed tomorrow to all staff and pupils. Whilst we appreciate this will be inconvenient for many families, we need to ensure that the safety of our pupils and staff remain our upmost priority.
Please check Studybugs for a message from your child’s year group, your child’s class teacher has put together some activity ideas for them to complete while they are at home. There is no expectation that the children complete all of the activities; they are just suggestions. We have also attached a copy of your child’s home learning grid, so that have you access to this too.
We look forward to seeing all children back in school on Friday.
Stay safe!
Mrs Hall.
