☀️ Extreme Heat Update – Thursday 25 June ☀️

Thank you for your continued support during this period of exceptionally hot weather. The children have been amazing today, and we are incredibly proud of how well they have adapted to the conditions.

As outlined in yesterday's email and social media post, Elson Junior School will be open as normal tomorrow.

The optional early collection arrangement remains available between 1:15pm and 1:30pm for families who have requested this via the online form. If you intend to collect your child early, please ensure the form has been completed.

Thank you for your ongoing understanding and support as we continue to respond to the hot weather conditions.

☀️ Extreme Heat Update – Optional Early Collection ☀️

The Met Office has issued an extreme heat warning for the Gosport area from Wednesday afternoon through to Friday.

To support families during the hottest part of the week, we are offering an optional early collection for pupils on:

📅 Wednesday 24 June 2026
📅 Thursday 25 June 2026

⏰ Collection time: 1:15pm–1:30pm only

Morning attendance remains compulsory, and any absence during these afternoons will be authorised.

Important information:
🔹 School will remain open as normal for all children not being collected early.
🔹 Normal home-time arrangements will continue for those staying in school.
🔹 Children choosing the early collection option must be collected by a named adult. No child will be permitted to leave early unaccompanied.
🔹 Please use the side gate at the school’s main entrance and collect your child from their conservatory classroom door. The side gate will be the only gate open for early collection.
🔹We are unable to accommodate alternative collection times.
🔹PSHE event at 2pm is still going ahead as schedule.
🔹Choir is still going ahead as scheduled for the children still in school.

Our staff will continue to do everything possible to keep children safe, comfortable and hydrated. The school environment remains suitable for learning, and we do not need to implement a full closure.

If you would like to collect your child early, please complete the form sent to families via email, indicating who will be collecting and on which day(s).

Thank you for your understanding and support as we respond to these unusual weather conditions and continue to do what is best for all children and families at Elson Junior School.

Armed Forces Parade Friday 26th June
All children in uniformed clubs to wear their uniform to school and join the parade ❤️

☀️🌡️ Hot Weather Alert! 🌡️☀️

It looks like we're in for a very hot week, so we're asking for your help to keep everyone cool and comfortable.

Please make sure your child comes to school with:
💧 A refillable water bottle
🧢 A hat with their name clearly labelled inside (hats have a habit of going on adventures!)
🧴 Sun cream applied (nut free)

To help beat the heat, children are welcome to wear their PE kits to school if they prefer.

We'll be doing our part too by:
🌳 Making the most of shady spots
💧 Encouraging plenty of water breaks
☀️ Avoiding spending long periods outside during the hottest parts of the day

Let's work together to keep everyone happy, hydrated and as cool as cucumbers this week! 😎

🏅🌟 Sports Day 2026 🌟🏅

What a fantastic and successful Sports Day! It was wonderful to see so much athletic talent on display throughout the morning, with every child giving their very best effort and showing great determination, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship.

A special mention goes to our excellent team leaders, who did a fantastic job encouraging and supporting their teams throughout the event. Thankfully, the rain held off, allowing everyone to enjoy a brilliant day of competition and fun! And thank you to the children who came to set up the events in the morning, your kindness and support doesn't go unnoticed ☀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Congratulations to Team Integrity for being crowned Sports Day champions! 🏆👏

A huge well done to all of our medal winners for their outstanding achievements, and an even bigger well done to every child who took part and tried so hard. Your effort, resilience, and positive attitude made the day such a success.

What a fantastic evening of football! Our girls put in an incredible performance and finished in 4th place in the annual Grange Junior School tournament packed with amazing talent and very tight competition.

Every player showed great determination, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the day. We are so proud of the effort, commitment, and positive attitude shown by the entire squad.

A huge congratulations to Castle Primary School on winning the tournament – a well-deserved achievement! 👏🏆

On Friday June 12th our girls football team took to the field again. It was a tougher game than expected but we secured a 1-0 win with a wonder goal from way outside of the box, it certainly was a contender for goal of the season. Our player of the match worked extremely hard for the team in this game, playing multiple positions, scoring the goal and running an unbelievable amount of times up and down the pitch. Players like these are a dream to have on the team. Next the Grange tournament. Good luck girls

With determination, teamwork, and a healthy competitive spirit, it’s set to be a fantastic day of events, cheering, and school pride.
