🚢 Starting the week with some exciting news!

We're proud to share that our Remote Operator training is now MCA-recognised under MGN 703 in Southampton.

This means SeaBot Maritime is now the UK's only training provider delivering MCA-recognised Remote Operator training across two locations – Southampton and Plymouth.

Building on our first MCA recognition in Southampton in 2022 and the recognition of our Plymouth training earlier this year, this marks another important milestone for our team.

By connecting the South West and the Solent, we're making high-quality, industry-recognised training more accessible as autonomous maritime operations continue to grow.

A huge thank you to the Maritime and Coastguard Agency for their continued support throughout this journey.

Autonomy in maritime operations isn't coming; it's already arrived.

Since 2022, SeaBot Maritime has delivered flag state recognised USV operations training as the UK’s longest-established provider in this space.

Our Generic MASS Remote Operator course is MCA-recognised, assessed against MGN 703, and listed on the official MCA Approved Training Provider register. Under MGN 703, responsibility sits with the owner/operator to ensure Remote Operators are trained and competent before standing a watch.

This course meets that obligation, and goes further.

Delegates gain hands-on experience operating two different types of USV across three control systems, supported by a state-of-the-art simulation suite integrated with Marine AI's Guardian System. The theoretical syllabus covers connectivity, ROC management, navigation, AI/ML, cyber security, sensory systems and emergency response.

The course is particularly relevant for those moving from traditional maritime roles into remote operations, organisations developing internal USV / MASS capability, and personnel preparing for ROUV / MASS operational responsibilities.

As USVs become larger, faster, more capable, and increasingly complex, the ability to safely supervise missions and manage operational risk from Remote Operations Centres (ROCs) is becoming critical across the maritime sector.

That’s why we’re excited to officially launch our new USV ROC Supervisor - Mission Management Simulation Course.

Designed for experienced remote operators, mariners, and operational personnel transitioning into supervisory and management roles ashore, this intensive 5-day programme focuses on the real-world challenges of overseeing complex USV operations from a ROC.

Delivered at BMT Group Ltd Digital Innovation and Simulation Centre (DISC) in Fareham, delegates train using dedicated ROC simulation powered by Marine AI's Guardian Control System, building practical skills in:

✔️ Mission planning
✔️ Operational oversight
✔️ Collision avoidance
✔️ Emergency response
✔️ Risk assessment
✔️ Operational decision-making

2025 was packed with momentum. We strengthened key partnerships across industry, academia and the innovation ecosystem, while expanding our MCA-recognised Remote Operator Training to new locations and continuing to deliver training for defence and commercial organisations. We contributed to speaking engagements and panel discussions at major industry events, launched The Remote Operator Newsletter, and continued championing the safe and effective adoption of maritime autonomy.
