๐ŸงŠ A BIG THANK YOU TO YETI ๐ŸงŠ

Watch this short clip โ€” Ross Honey, at sea aboard Free Spirit, talking about the YETI coolers on board. ๐ŸŽฅ๐Ÿ‘‡

It might sound like a small thing. โ˜€๏ธ Coolers. But on a boat that runs sessions for groups of all ages and abilities, sometimes for hours at a time, keeping food, water and medication at the right temperature isn't a luxury. It's safety. It's dignity. It's the standard every person who steps aboard deserves. ๐Ÿ’™

YETI builds gear that holds up to real conditions. โš“ The kind of gear you actually want on a working community boat โ€” not just for show, but doing the job, every session, regardless of what the weather decides to do. โœ…

To everyone at YETI who got behind this project: thank you. ๐Ÿ™ You haven't just supplied coolers โ€” you've helped us deliver Free Spirit the way she was meant to be delivered.

Watch Ross say it himself in the video above. ๐ŸŽฌ

Drop a comment if you're a YETI fan โ€” we know there are plenty of you. ๐Ÿ‘‡

โš“ FREE SPIRIT IS OFFICIALLY ONLINE! โš“

And who better to tell you than the man at the heart of it? ๐ŸŽฅ Watch Ross Honey deliver the news from sea โ€” filmed aboard Free Spirit herself. ๐Ÿ‘†

Everything you need to know is now in one place: ๐Ÿ‘‡

โœจ The story behind the boat
๐Ÿšค What Free Spirit does and who she's for
๐Ÿ‘ฅ The people who made her possible
๐Ÿ’™ How to get involved, support the project, or come aboard

Free Spirit was built on the idea that the ocean belongs to everyone โ€” people of all ages, all abilities. The new website is our way of making that easier to share. ๐ŸŒŠ

Hit play to hear it from Ross, then head to www.freespirit.care and have a proper look around. ๐Ÿ™Œ

Drop your thoughts in the comments. And please share with anyone who needs to see this. ๐Ÿ‘‡

We are delighted to welcome Gail Byrne as the newest Trustee of FreeSpirit of the Sea.
Gail brings a wealth of leadership experience from her distinguished career in healthcare, having served as Chief Nursing Officer at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, where she led major transformation programmes focused on patient safety, staff wellbeing, governance, and organisational culture.
Alongside her professional achievements, Gail is a qualified IML Level 7 Executive Coach with a passion for helping individuals and teams unlock their potential through compassionate leadership, resilience, and confidence-building.
Her connection to the sea runs deep. Having spent many years sailing abroad and now regularly sailing from the Hamble, Gail has experienced first-hand the powerful emotional and mental wellbeing benefits that time on the water can bring.
Gailโ€™s values align perfectly with FreeSpiritโ€™s mission to create safe, empowering, and non-judgemental experiences for young people helping them build confidence, discover strengths, and shape their own futures.
We are incredibly excited to have Gail join the Board of Trustees and look forward to the knowledge, passion, and energy she will bring to the charity as we continue supporting young people through the life-changing power of the sea.
Please join us in giving Gail a very warm welcome aboard!

๐ŸŽฌ HELP US TURN FREE SPIRIT INTO A FLOATING CLASSROOM ๐ŸŽฌ

Free Spirit isnโ€™t just a community boat for getting people on the water. Sheโ€™s designed to do more.

With the GPS lock anchor holding her steady in the harbour, and her deck laid out to seat up to 24 people in rows of 8, Free Spirit becomes a place where talks happen. ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ

๐ŸŒฑ Environmental education for school groups
๐Ÿ’ช Motivational talks for young adults
๐ŸŸ Conservation briefings using the lake/harbour itself as the example
๐ŸŽ“ Mentorship sessions and career discussions
๐ŸŽฏ Anything where 24 people, on a boat, with a great speaker, can change a day or a direction

To do any of it properly โ€” to do it the way the people on board deserve โ€” we need one more piece of kit:

๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ A fitted on-board monitor.

Thatโ€™s what weโ€™re asking for help with.

A monitor unlocks visual learning, slides for talks, live footage from beneath the boat, real charts, real data, real-time examples โ€” and it makes Free Spirit work for visual learners and neurodiverse audiences in a way that words alone never quite manage.

๐Ÿ†˜ Three ways you can help right now:

โœ… Donate โ€” Message Us ๐Ÿ”—
โœ… Share this post โ€” reach matters as much as money
โœ… Tag a business that might want to come on board as a supporter

If youโ€™re an organisation with the kit, the skill, or the budget to help fit a monitor on Free Spirit, drop us a message. Weโ€™d love to talk. ๐Ÿ’ฌ

Watch the short video below โ€” youโ€™ll see exactly the space weโ€™re fitting it into, and the rows of seats waiting for the audience that monitor will serve.

Thank you, every one of you. ๐Ÿ’™

โš“ HOW DO YOU HOLD A BOAT STILL WITHOUT DROPPING AN ANCHOR? โš“

Watch this short clip and let Ross Honey the inspiration behind Free Spirit show you. ๐ŸŽฅ๐Ÿ‘‡

Itโ€™s called a Sky hook. A virtual anchor. The boat holds an exact position against tide and wind no chain on the seabed, no drift, no disturbance to whateverโ€™s living below. ๐ŸŒŠ

Why does this matter for a community boat?

Because Free Spirit isnโ€™t just out there for the ride. ๐Ÿ’™

โœ… When weโ€™re running a talk in the harbour, the boat needs to stay still
โœ… When weโ€™re assisting an angler at an event, the deck needs to be steady
โœ… When someone who needs a stable footing comes on board, the boat canโ€™t be drifting
โœ… And when weโ€™re sitting over protected ground, we cannot be dragging metal across it

SkyHook from Mercury makes all of it possible.

Conservation and capability in the same piece of kit โ€” thatโ€™s the kind of thinking that built this boat. ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ

Watch Rossโ€™s short explainer in the video below. Drop a question in the comments and weโ€™ll come back to it.

๐Ÿšข A MASSIVE THANK YOU TO BRITTANY FERRIES ๐Ÿšข

Youโ€™re looking at Free Spirit in Portsmouth Harbour. ๐Ÿ’™

She was built in Spain.

The reason sheโ€™s here โ€” the reason any of this is happening โ€” is Brittany Ferries.

Transporting a boat across the sea is a serious operation. Brittany Ferries didnโ€™t just take the contract; they got behind the project. They saw what Free Spirit was going to do for people of all ages and abilities, and they stepped in to make the journey possible. And theyโ€™re committed to continuing that support as the project grows. ๐Ÿ™Œ

Thatโ€™s the kind of partnership that keeps grassroots community projects alive. Not a press release. Not a logo on a wall. Real, practical, โ€œweโ€™ll-help-you-get-her-thereโ€ support. โš“

Without Brittany Ferries, the boat in this short video would still be in Spain.

To the team at Brittany Ferries โ€” from everyone involved with Free Spirit โ€” thank you. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Watch the clip below and youโ€™ll see exactly what your support has made possible.
