SOLID GROUND.

Saturday was epic.

70 odd grapplers filled the mats for back to back Gi and NoGi rounds, with clubs from all across the South coming together to train, catch up and put in some serious work.

Because of every single person who turned up, bought a ticket, donated or grabbed one of the limited edition Solid Ground Dorai’s, we raised over £1,500 for The Elizabeth Foundation.

A HUGE thank you to Scramble Brand for putting this event together.

Big up to everyone who travelled, rolled, donated, volunteered or simply showed up - thank you. Days like this remind us just how strong the grappling community really is.

See you at the next one.

Four walls.
A few mats.
Nothing special…

Until the people walk through the door. 🦍

SUPERFIGHT ANNOUNCEMENT

We’re incredibly proud to share that Amelia has been offered a Superfight on Enyo!

Enyo Grappling

Nobody deserves this opportunity more.

If you’ve trained with Amelia, you’ll know exactly why. She turns up, puts the work in, never looks for shortcuts and is always willing to help those around her. Whether it’s encouraging a nervous beginner, cornering teammates at competitions or cheering louder than anyone else from the sidelines, she’s one of the biggest advocates for Gorilla Grapplers and everything our club stands for.

Now it’s our turn.

Let’s pack the venue, make some noise and show Amelia the same support she’s shown so many of us 🦍

This is her Superfight debut, and we couldn’t be prouder to have her representing Gorilla Grapplers on a stage like this.

Also big up Adapt JJ for hooking her up with some serious fight kit Adapt Jiu-Jitsu

Congratulations, Amelia. You’ve earned every bit of this. Now let’s go put on a show. 👊🏻

What a weekend.

A massive thank you to Roberto “Gordo” Correa for sharing his knowledge. It was a great reminder that good Jiu Jitsu is built on solid fundamentals regardless of how long you’ve been training.

In usual MadHatters fashion there were tournaments and superfights - not just for entertainment; they were a chance for people to test themselves and show they’re ready for the next level.

Every promotion was well earned, and it’s great to see so many people progressing through hard work and consistency.

Special congrats to Dan Withers and James Elsey who achieved their Black Belts đź–¤

SOLID GROUND OPEN MAT 🦍

On Saturday 25th July - Scramble will once again be bringing the community together for a special Solid Ground Open Mat - this time at Gorilla Grapplers HQ.

🕚 11am Start
🥋 2 Hours of Gi & NoGi Rounds
🫶🏻 Open to all gyms and affiliations

Most importantly, every penny from ticket sales will be donated to The Elizabeth Foundation, supporting deaf and hearing-impaired children and their families.

So whether you’re coming to sharpen your game, test your gas tank, or spend two hours getting folded by someone half your size, it’s all for a great cause.

Get involved, tag your teammates, and let’s raise some money while trying not to get heel hooked by a rogue blue belt.

See you on the mats 🤜🏻🤛🏻

At Gorilla Grapplers, we’re incredibly proud of our Junior Programme and the amazing culture that’s been built around it. 🦍

A huge shoutout has to go to Head of our Junior Programme, Jamie. The dedication, patience, energy and genuine care he puts into every single session is something special. The impact he’s having on these young athletes, both on and off the mats, can’t be overstated.

One thing we’re passionate about is making sure every child gets the right experience for their age and stage of development. We split our classes in to two with our younger and newer starters learning through games - movement, confidence-building and fundamental skills in a fun, engaging environment. As they grow, they progress into more structured training with our older juniors and teens.

Our teen group are an absolute credit to the club. They lead by example, help support the younger students and are fantastic role models for the next generation coming through. The standards they set on the mats and the way they carry themselves reflects everything we stand for as a team.

Whether your child is 5 years old and taking their first steps onto the mats or a teenager looking to challenge themselves, there’s a place for them at Gorilla Grapplers.

We’ve also built a brilliant competition team, with incredible support from parents, teammates and coaches. When we compete, we compete together. Win, lose or draw, nobody stands alone. The atmosphere, encouragement and community spirit around our competition squad is something we’re extremely proud of.

At the end of the day, we’re not just building competent martial artists. We’re building confidence, resilience, friendships and a team that looks after one another.

Our Junior Sessions run Monday-Thursday 5.15-6.15pm. Contact us for any enquiries 👊🏻

ANOTHER BANK HOLIDAY OPEN MAT 🦍🔥

These open mats just keep getting better!

Around 85 grapplers from clubs all over came through for the Bank Holiday Monday Open Mat and the energy in that room was unreal.

The whole place brought the heat… (thank god for AC)

A proper mix of Gi & NoGi rounds, hard rolls, technical exchanges, new faces, old friends and a room full of people all there for the same reason - to level up and get after it.

That’s what makes these sessions special. No egos. No politics. Just good people and hard training.

Massive respect to everyone who made the trip and helped create such a quality atmosphere.

Already looking forward to the next one 🤜🏻🤛🏻
