Championing Skills: AAL at the Brighton Chamber Skills Fair ๐ผ
Jo Cronin and Sarah Amram proudly represented Aldridge Adult Learning (AAL) at the Brighton Chamber of Commerce Skills Fair on Wednesday 20th May 2026. The event brought together a range of local organisations committed to supporting skills development and employment across the region, including Brighton & Hove City Council Apprenticeships, the Adult
Skills Hub, Kingsway Care, Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust, and Coastal Home Care. The fair provided an excellent opportunity for AAL to promote its wide-ranging provision, connect with partners, and highlight the impact of its learner journey programmes.
Among the many positive interactions on the day, one stood out as a powerful example of learner success in action.
Naomi Sharp, a Southdown Employment Specialist, visited the AAL stand to share some fantastic news about one of her clients. The learner first enrolled on AALโs Begin Your Journey โ Teaching Support Assistant course, where she built confidence and developed key foundational skills. Motivated to progress further, she went on to complete the Level 2 Support Work in Schools qualification.
Following her studies, the learner secured a volunteer placement within a primary schoolโan important stepping stone that enabled her to gain valuable practical experience. We are delighted to report that this has since led to paid employment within the school, marking a significant milestone in her journey.
This success story is a testament to the transformative impact of AALโs provision and the strength of partnership working across the local employment and skills network. It highlights how targeted support, clear progression pathways, and real-world opportunities combine to deliver meaningful outcomes for learners.
In addition to showcasing learner impact, the event also offered valuable opportunities for strategic engagement. With the forthcoming devolution of skills funding placing greater influence at a regional level, organisations such as the Brighton Chamber of Commerce will play an increasingly central role in shaping local priorities and investment. Networking with influential decision-makers, including Sarah Springford, CEO of Brighton Chamber of Commerce, is therefore key to ensuring AAL is well- positioned within these conversations. Strengthening these relationships will support AAL to capitalise on emerging opportunities and place the organisation in a strong position to secure and grow future
funding.
Well done to everyone involved in supporting this learnerโs journey - and
to Jo and Sarah for championing AAL at such an important local event.
