Practice tip #2 — and this one might surprise you. 🎧🥁

The best drummers in the world don't just play more. They listen more. They study the groove before they touch the kit. They feel the pocket, the space between the notes, the way the bass sits underneath everything. And then — and only then — they join in.

Here's a simple challenge for your next practice session: spend half of it with your headphones on and your sticks down. Really listen to the track. Where's the kick landing? What's the hi-hat doing? Where's the snare sitting in relation to the bass? Feel the groove in your body before your hands start moving.

When you finally pick up your sticks and play along, you'll notice something different. You'll lock in tighter. You'll play with more feel. You'll stop chasing the music and start sitting inside it.

Great drumming isn't about playing louder or faster — it's about playing with your ears wide open.
