NEXT LEVEL TIPS: WHAT THE PRESS?!

There are so many chest press variations out there but which one is actually right for you?

Swipe to find out ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿผ

FLOOR PRESS

These are a great variation if the chest press is new to you as the floor limits how deep your arms can go. A great way to learn the correct arm position and pathway.

DUMBBELL BENCH PRESS

This is a great option if you want to work on range of motion and stability. Each arm works independently, so no cheating with your stronger arm.

Being positioned on the bench helps challenge range of motion as your elbows can move further past your body.

BARBELL BENCH PRESS

This is a great variation to build some serious strength as youโ€™re able to load the most weight. The bar path is simple and stable too as itโ€™s two hands pushing on one barbell rather than two separate dumbbells.

Note: the fixed hand position might not be suitable or comfortable for anyone with shoulder issues.

INCLINE BENCH PRESS

This is a great variation as it is more joint friendly for the shoulders and reduces stress on the low back.

Can be done with dumbbells or the barbell.

Hereโ€™s the thing no single press is โ€œthe bestโ€. The best one is whichever fits your body and your goals!

NEXT LEVEL TIPS: WHAT THE SQUAT?!

There are so many squat variations out there but which squat is actually right for you?

Swipe through to find out ๐Ÿ‘‰

GOBLET SQUATS

These are a great variation if youโ€™re new to squatting as they teach correct posture, challenge the core and are a great place to start building strength before moving on to a barbell.

This is where most of us started too ๐Ÿ’š

BARBELL BACK SQUAT

This is a great variation to build some serious strength. With the barbell across your traps youโ€™ll be able to load this the heaviest of the squat variations.

BARBELL FRONT SQUAT

This is a great option for those wanting to challenge themselves and load heavier without putting too much pressure on the lower back. It seriously works the core and gets the quads burning!

This requires a lot of mobility to keep the bar in place but we have variations to make it more accessible for people who have limited mobility.

SAFETY BAR SQUAT

Got dodgy shoulders or wrists that donโ€™t love a barbell? The safety bar squat is a gamechanger. Supporting the bar in front of you with your hands allows for a more comfortable shoulder position.

The best part is the safety bar allows us to lift heavy just like a traditional barbell back squat.

At Levels we believe your squat should fit you, not the other way around. We choose your variation depending on what your body needs and what youโ€™re working towards. Thatโ€™s the whole point of coaching, itโ€™s built around you. ๐Ÿ’š

There are things about getting older we canโ€™t control.โ€‰
โ€‰
But how strong, active and capable we stay isnโ€™t completely out of our hands.โ€‰
โ€‰
Thatโ€™s a big part of why we train.โ€‰
โ€‰
Not just for what we can do today, but for everything we still want to be doing years from now.

Getting stronger isnโ€™t just about lifting heavier weights in the gym.โ€‰
โ€‰
Itโ€™s about what that strength allows you to keep doing outside of it.โ€‰
โ€‰
Carrying your own bags. Getting up off the floor without thinking about it. Going on active holidays. Keeping up with your family. Saying yes to things because you trust your body can handle them.โ€‰
โ€‰
For most of us, thatโ€™s the stuff that really matters.โ€‰
โ€‰
We canโ€™t stop ourselves getting older.โ€‰
โ€‰
But we can train now to give ourselves the best chance of staying strong, active and capable for as long as possible.โ€‰
โ€‰
Flick through to see what's important to me.โ€‰
โ€‰
Whatโ€™s something you still want to be doing at 60?โ€‰
โ€‰
What's something you're doing now you're in your 60's that you couldn't do without your strength and capability?โ€‰
