Following my letter sent on Friday, we are happy to say that the Canteen Electricity has now been fixed, and normal canteen lunches are available again! Our school canteen has a wide variety on the menu, including wraps, baguettes, salads, pizzas, pizzinis, soups, homebaking, fruit, yogurt and a selection of hot food each day.

At the end of last week, we appointed our Senior Prefect Team of Isla Preston (Head Girl), Rory Turner (Head Boy), Holly Salter (Depute Head Girl) and Iain Graham (Depute Head Boy). Congratulations! We are looking forward to working with the team to support our young people during this academic session.

Today, we were able to celebrate successful exam results with some of our young people who worked hard last session in gaining a range of top A Grades in their National 5 or Higher exams.

⚽ CALLING ALL PARENTS, YOUNG LEADERS AND INTERESTED COMMUNITY MEMBERS!!
WE NEED YOUR HELP TO KEEP SATURDAY P1-3 FOOTBALL GOING!
Our Saturday Primary Football sessions have been a fantastic success, providing regular opportunities for local children to get active, develop their skills and enjoy playing football with friends.

However, to continue running these sessions long term, we need more volunteers to come forward and help lead and support activities.

To help make this as easy as possible, Active Schools is running a FREE volunteer training session where we'll provide all the ideas, games and resources you'll need to deliver a simple 6-week football programme.

📅 Saturday 5th September
📍 Fingal Centre
⏰ 11:00am - 1:00pm

✅ No coaching experience required
✅ Learn simple football games and activities
✅ Gain confidence to lead sessions
✅ Receive support and session ideas
✅ Help ensure local football opportunities can continue

Current Saturday sessions are:

⚽ P1: 9.30am - 10.15am
⚽ P2/3: 10.30am - 11.30am
⚽ Grils only P1-3 & P4-7 : 11.30am - 12.30pm

Even if you can't help at these sessions every week at the Fingal Centre / Arainn Fhinn attending the training could give you the skills and confidence to run football opportunities within your own local community, helping more children across Skye take part.

If you've ever thought about getting involved, now is the perfect time. Whether you can help regularly or occasionally, your support would make a huge difference.

An information meeting for parents of those going on the Belgium trip will take place on Wednesday 2nd September in room 105 at 7pm. I would encourage all parents, carers and students to attend as we will be covering important information regarding the trip, and our Tour Guide from Mercat International will also be in attendance online to answer any outstanding questions. If parents/carers cannot attend in person please let Mrs Laing know, and she will send you a link to the meeting.
We must have all information regarding passports and GHIC cards by the end of August so if there are any of you who have not provided us with this already, please contact Mrs Laing as a matter of priority.

It's the final day of our Senior leadership programme at Outward Bound. Yesterday, Gorge walking and raft building were on the schedule, with classroom based leadership skills taking place each evening. Our Young people have lived the 4Rs and have been a credit to themselves and the school.

Do you have a passion for sport and physical activity?
We're looking for two enthusiastic pupils from S4-S6 to become our next Young Sports Ambassadors and follow in the footsteps of our previous Ambassadors Reid and Beth.
As a Young Ambassador, you'll:
✅ Inspire others to get active
✅ Promote sport within the school and community
✅ Help shape sporting opportunities at Portree High School
✅ Develop valuable leadership, communication and organisational skills
✅ Represent the voice of young people in school sport.
