This is why you want to follow us on our adventures!
The reel shows Shani and Anaick, every second a label appears above each one in turn. To start with, above Shani it says ‘She’s blind’ and above Anaïck: ‘and she’s French’. Then it carries on in turns: ‘She’s super talented’, ‘and ‘she’s got a plan’; ‘She can sculpt anything’, and ‘she can glaze it’; ‘She understands colours’, and ‘She makes underglazes’; ‘she’s got Fibromyalgia’, ´and ‘she understands’, the last label says ‘Together we made this’. The end of the reel shows our sculpture of a fairy’s nest with the cutest, perfectly sculpted little baby fairy inside. The reel also encourages the viewer to follow us and to comment ‘HOW?’ To find out more about us.

Shani didn’t use many tools apart from her needle tool until we went on a two day full portrait sculpture course .creatoire when Gregory showed her how they would help in sculpting particular details. So we came back home and Shani started using more of the tools we already had. One day, we went on our regular pilgrimage to sculptors during the and we met .sculptor who uses much more delicate tools and, after discovering those, we bought a new set of much finer tools. This is the day we received them and Shani is choosing the ones she needs to sculpt the shape from the back of the ear to the corner of the chin on her baby sculpture which eventually will become the baby fairy in the nest sculpture. On the foam cushion besides her we can see the first prototype of a baby face Shani had done in preparation for this sculpture. It takes a lot of thinking, preparing, making prototypes and paying attention to many tiny details to create a beautiful sculpture and we do put the time in, we love every tiny step of the process!

For many, it is already completely baffling to discover that Shani, who has been blind from birth, can sculpt a cat, a hare or the full portrait of her husband’s grandad but when people see her fairies, dragons and mermaids, there is definitely an extra frown on their faces: ‘but how does she know what a fairy looks like?’. Trust me, she does; thanks to her extraordinary family, her natural curiosity, her passion for knowledge, her keen intelligence, her voracious love of reading and her beautiful attention to the many details of every single other sculptures and figurines that ever landed in her hands. Her deep understanding of the visual world even allows her to decide of the colours she wants her sculptures to be decorated with. It’s absolute magic!
The reel slowly zooms in on a closed ceramic nest sculpture. Fashioned in the traditional shape of weaving birds nests, delicately covered in fresh green leaves, we slowly discover an exquisitely sculpted infant inside, sleeping peacefully. Her sweet face and tiny closed fist perfectly imitating the shape of a real baby. Leaning in closely, encouraged by curiosity, we discover her lovely little pointy ears and catch a glimpse of her wing behind her near shoulder. She is the sweetest little thing you have ever imagined.
