For any newcomers, here's a bit of background and information you might like to know...

I am an experienced teacher based in Portadown, with Grade 7 in piano (currently working towards Grade 8), Grade 5 in music theory, and grades in various other instruments such as flute and violin. I've also played in the Down Junior Orchestra, local Church band, and flute band.

With 4 years experience of teaching, I have a high success rate in entering pupils for exams and have received positive feedback from parents and pupils for the professional service and relaxed atmosphere.

Lessons cost Β£10 per each individual, half hour lesson. The first lesson is free and will only last 20 minutes, so we can see where you're at and talk about what you would like to do, whether it's pursue grades or just play for fun.

I use a range of tools in lessons to keep them light-hearted and encouraging, such as colouring in, helping pupils write their own songs, and musical games.

I also offer theory of music lessons, which can be incorporated into the lessons. We'll work through a workbook, and if you would like to, you can take exams in music theory. I also offer block advice sessions for pupils taking GCSE music.

I'm very flexible in terms of what you would like to do during lessons. Whether you're keen to work through the grades, or simply learn to play a favourite pop song, I try to keep it relaxed and fun.

Hello there! Welcome to any newcomers! There have been quite a few of you over the past few weeks so I thought I'd introduce myself..

I'm Nina and I'm a piano teacher. I have grade 7 in piano (hoping to complete grade 8 in the next year after taking time out to have a baby) and grade 5 in music theory, as well as grades in several other instruments 🎻

I've been teaching now for nearly 5 years and I love it. I teach because I have experienced on a personal level the numerous benefits that come from playing a musical instrument and I love for other people to experience these. Not only does it activate every part of your brain and improve you intellectually, but it's also so relaxing and theraputic.

I have plenty of spaces if you are interested in sending your child(ren) or even for yourself for 30 minute lessons, no matter what age or level, or whether you want to learn for fun or take exams. Get in touch quick though because I can guarantee spaces will fill up come September!

You can send me a message through here or you're more likely to get me on my phone at 07774371177.

Nice to meet you, and welcome! :)

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to get in touch. You will be most likely to get me on my mobile, so send a text to 07774371177. Happy Summer! :)

23/04/2016

Hey there! I've had a lot of page views the past wee while so I thought I would update you on what's happening at Nina's School of Piano..
Turns out I was over-ambitious about returning to teaching in February and I've decided to take the full 9 months of maternity leave. So I'll be back (for definite!) in September!
For anyone interested in starting lessons then, get in touch now and get your name down as there won't be as many spaces available!
See you in September!

07/12/2015

I'm stopping teaching next week for maternity leave, and won't be starting back until the end of February (all being well) so if any of my pupils want to continue lessons, or if anyone has been thinking of starting, let me know and I'll put you in touch with my sister Alex! She also teaches flute! 🎢

23/10/2015

We're now completely full up!! Sorry if anyone was going to get in touch, but all the spaces have now been filled. However, I'll keep you up to date if any spaces become available, so keep checking back!
If you're really keen to get your child (or yourself!) started with piano, I have a sister who is starting to teach now too, so send me a message and I'll put you in touch with her :)

Learning to play piano doesn't only teach kids how to read music and play an instrument, it also teaches patience and commitment, as it's not something that can be learnt overnight. It takes time, practice, and discipline to improve and to get to a stage where they can sit down and play anything they like. Super beneficial!

One of my lovely pupils plays the harp for weddings, so if you're looking for something a bit different, I would recommend Amy. A very talented young lady!

Children who have taken 3 years of piano lessons have significantly higher self-esteem than those who haven't.⚑️
