'Hot Chocolate with the Principal'.

A very special afternoon for some pupils who were chosen to have 'Hot Chocolate with the Principal'. Lots of lovely treats while everyone shared fun facts about themselves and whether they would go for pineapple on a pizza or not!! Lots of debating over that one!! Mrs Murphy thoroughly enjoyed chatting with everyone.

Well done for upholding our mission statement and having a great term.

Winter warmers will be on sale in the foyer every break time next week. Why not treat yourself or these would be perfect for a gift or a stocking filler.

**Careers Education, Information, Advice & Guidance (CEIAG) @ KJHS.*
During Employability Y10 classes this week, representatives from Firmus Energy, Antrim and the Hastings Hotel Group, Belfast joined classes! They shared their KS4 qualifications with pupils & specifically the key employability skills required for their job. Challenging & favourite parts of their role was also included. Thanks to the volunteers who gave up their time to plan & facilitate these sessions. These informal opportunities allow students to gain an insight into the world of work and are invaluable. If you feel you could take one of these sessions in Jan with our Y10 students we would love to hear from you! Please contact our school office on 028(38) 330021 or via email on [email protected].

Great fun was had by all involved and we look forward to more around Easter time.

CARING CHRISTMAS
Thank you to our GLAMS girls who led our Year Head assemblies today and launched the theme for December, 'Caring Christmas'. They encouraged us all to think of others at Christmas time and reach out to those who we know will find this season hard. The GLAMS girls have plenty of ideas for the rest of the month to help us to be caring. We hear there will be lots of festive fun and caring thoughts ahead from this fantastic group.
Thanks girls for your help this month!!

Want to make a difference ? Have a vital role in our school community?

School governors play an important role in the management of a school, alongside the Principal and school staff.

Education Permanent Secretary Dr Mark Browne said:

“Becoming a school governor is a fantastic opportunity to promote the education of children and young people and contribute to your local community. Posts are available in controlled and maintained schools across Northern Ireland and I would encourage anyone with an interest to apply.

“You do not need to be an educational expert or be a parent to serve as a governor. You will need to have the desire to ensure children get the best possible education and bring qualities such as enthusiasm, commitment and the ability to work in a team.

“We are looking for volunteers from across the country to become school governors and make a positive difference in the lives of our young people in local schools.”

Sara Long, Chief Executive of the Education Authority said:

“School governors play a vital role in the successful management of schools. Working together with school leaders, they set the vision, ethos and strategic direction of the school. They can bring experience from other walks of life and make an important contribution using qualities such as empathy and good judgement.

“Governors focus on making a genuine difference to the outcomes of children and young people in their schools.”

TBUC - Windsor Park Trip

Pupils from KJHS and SJBC travelled to Windsor Park last week, the home of Northern Ireland Football. They had a walking tour around the stadium where they learned the history of NI Football, got to practice their game face walking out of the tunnel and even sat in the managers and players’ seats. They got a grasp of what the conference and media table would be like as well as seeing the team’s changing rooms and facilities. Pupils showed great interest and enthusiasm, engaging with questions and activities.

A fantastic afternoon with St Johns the Baptist’s College pupils and staff.
