Bignold Primary School and Wensum Junior are celebrating after achieving their School Games Mark Awards!

This year, Bignold has been awarded the Gold Schools Games Mark, while Wensum has achieved the Silver Award.

The School Games Mark is a government-led award scheme that recognises schools for their commitment to physical education (PE), school sport, physical activity and competitive opportunities for young people. It helps schools evaluate their provision, celebrate successes and identify areas for future development.

The award focuses on how schools:
- Encourage all pupils to be physically active and work towards the Chief Medical Officer's recommendation of 60 active minutes per day (20 minutes for SEND pupils).
- Provide inclusive and meaningful sporting and competitive opportunities.
- Promote equality of opportunity and increase participation for all pupils.
- Engage families, staff and the wider community in promoting the value of physical activity and school sport.

As we reach the last day of term across all our schools today, we want to say a big thank you to everyone that has contributed to making this such an amazing year!

Our staff, pupils and families go above and beyond when it comes to their commitment to our schools and ensuring that everyone has access to the range of opportunities they need to succeed and thrive.

Thank you to you all for being involved in the success of our Trust this year - we're looking forward to building on this in September and beyond!

Staff, parents and pupils alike were excited to welcome former Pop Idol star turned actor and anti-bullying campaigner Gareth Gates to Filby Primary School last week.

Gareth delivered a motivational assembly about the importance of confidence and resilience. His personal story of overcoming challenges including bullying and his stammer resonated with the children, and they understood that this can make you stronger.

A search and rescue helicopter made an exciting visit to Coldfair Green Primary this week as part of ongoing lessons about water safety.

Coldfair Green Primary School is lucky to be in a wonderful Suffolk coastal location, giving pupils unique opportunities to learn and explore near the sea. It is therefore essential for pupils to learn about water safety so they can recognise risks and stay safe when spending time near the sea.

Pupils had a water safety talk by Specialist Group International (a contractor working on the Sizewell C project) this week. In partnership with the Lucas Dobson Water Safety charity, SGI is providing a unique and memorable learning experience focused on keeping children safe around water.

As part of this, a helicopter landed on the school field and the children met the pilot who is part of a world-renowned provider of 24/7 specialist response and rescue services.

The session helped the children understand how to stay safe and make sensible decisions near water. In addition, the children gained valuable insights into health and safety careers linked to major projects like Sizewell C, opening their eyes to a range of future possibilities.

As a generous addition, Coldfair Green was given a donation of 10 life jackets to support ongoing safety education which parents can loan for free.
