It is not often you see Dutch painted porcelain teapots here in the UK. While you might argue what a shame the teapot is damaged this rarely bothers me. The damage is more so that the lid has no relationship to the teapot painted in The Hague on Porcelain painted at Ansbach. Circa 1780 Dm for more info a price
Sometimes you buy something online and get it wrong. This was the case with this very large 51 cm charger that I thought was 18th century Chinese given the Chinese figures. But here is the mistake. The figures look Japanese. But actually in all honesty I didn’t spot this I just assumed the women were Chinese. But had I asked to see a photo of the reverse I would have known the charger wasn’t Chinese. The question I have for you is it Japanese or possibly European?
A very rare important and outstanding late 19th century Meissen figure of a N**e Bacchante modelled by the Modeller Ernst Julius Hähnel; Model no L155 circa 1880 43cm high.
Hähnel was considered to be one of the most prolific Sculptors in Germany during the 19th century and only modelled a few figures for Meissen . Pair of late Meissen Ornithological Comports each comport displaying on a central reserve against white ground a bird painted in multicolours sitting on a leafy branch. Each with an Osier border (basket weave pattern to both rim of comports and foot rim). The rims and base of comports painted with insects. Blue cross swords to both comports
One comport is in perfect condition while the other has a rim chip 2cm across to which in the centre is seen a very faint white hairline crack that extends 7cm see close up photo. Circa 1880 21cm diameter; 17cm high Price £360 Dm for further information
An unusual pair of Ormolu mounted French Enamelled Art Glass vases mounted as lamps and wired for electricity. Each vase enamelled with a large tree standing on the banks of a river with smaller trees in the background in shades of green and brown lying on an opaque background. Circa 1900 Height 41cm Diameter 13cm. The unusual feature are glass light bulbs lighting up the interior. The lamps will be on display in working order at our new Bournemouth Antique Gallery at Arcade Jewellers launching at the beginning of March. Pair of cylindrical Japanese Meiji Period Cloisonne vases mounted in French contemporary period bronze as lamps and electrified for UK use. Each decorated with copper wiring of multicolour flowers on a blue ground in shaped cartouches against a darker copper wiring background . Each vase supported by a pair of elephant head handles.
